Tom Tom, Garmin or ???. I was in Circuit City yesterday and saw another system that was larger, easier to use and priced at just $799 (or $749). Can't remember the name.

These look like the ones that snap on the window which bring up a point. I have an escort 8500 radar detector and love it! The problem is...you can't keep it on the window with the top down in a parking lot. Someone will steal it. So I guess you need to take it off and lock it in the glovebox everytime?

Good luck locking it in the glove box. Mine doesn't have a lock, does yours?

This is the best route. I've used one for over a year. Its a PDA with a great screen and has an autokit small enough to fit the Solstice. Costs are about $400 without the memory but definitely a value if you use Outlook for your calendar and contacts at the office. All download to the Garmin PDA.

I just purchased a factory re-conditioned Magelllan Roadmate 7000 for my yet to be delivered Sol. New, they go for anywhere between $699-$899. Some places that sell re-conditioned units have them for $549. This was on sale for $399 at Car Toys. I have a factory system in my Infiniti, this Magellan seems to be every bit as good. It has an internal hard drive, pre-loaded with mapping and over 2 million points of interest for the US and Canada. Touch screen, voice prompt (male or female options), stores personalized address info for up to three users, auto dim, included power cord, AC power cord so you can fiddle with it in the house, windshield mount, etc. Even has a data cable so you can down load future updates from their website. Very intuitive/easy to use. Basically open up the box plug it in and go. I highly recomend, especially at this price.

Now if I just had my car to get lost in

Pretty cool idea portable so you can take to different cars. Price is too steep ($900) but if as compression said ebay has cheaper I'd check that out.

Figure in a year when more competition comes out the prices would drop. At around $400 they'd sell them by the truck load.

that is the link I just did on ebay. when you are buying the tomtom make sure it has a map of your north america

they are cheaper if you buy it from a china owner.
all the north amreicans want too much money for it.

That is cool about the actor voices coming from your navigation system.
I can't imagine Mr.T's angry voice reply if I do not turn right
