Interestingly, James May of the BBC show "Top Gear" finally got to drive his childhood dream car -- a Lamborghini Countach. Guess the result. Then watch at the link...
He was supremely disappointed and said, "never drive your dream car".
He only got to spend a short time with the car, besides those guys are retarded. If maintained well and you have a true passion for the vehicle, the little quirks disappear in time and only the good things remain.

true, its an 80's supercar and not a Ford Focus.
The Countach is still my Dream Car. Heck, I even drool over the Kit cars that I see.

CHANGE THE NAME or add to the name, something similar, imagine if it wasn't used yet, "solstice mako shark"
How 'bout it? Would you sell your Sol for this? You know now that I am looking at this, I think this hood configuration would flow nicely to our front arrow...what do you think?....Some one do some Adobe work here....HEY NORM!!!!!!

that is a concept car from the early 60's..never made it to production...maybe some thought the Sol concept was ugly at first too...beauty in the eye of the beholder....i.e, check out this 50's Autorama Dream Car from Pontiac...has some striking resemblance to another car eh?

I thought you'd get a kick out of this story from wiki, it made me laugh out loud, check out the anectdote in bold;
Quote:
A widespread story has it that Mitchell had an actual shortfin mako shark mounted on the wall in his office, and ordered his team to paint the car to match the distinctive blue-gray upper surface gently blending into white underside of the fish. After numerous attempts to match the fish's color scheme failed, the team hit upon the idea of kidnapping the fish one night, painting it to match their best efforts on the car, and returning it to the office. Mitchell never realized the difference and pronounced himself pleased with the team's duplication on the car of nature's handiwork. [1]
After a period, he removed the original body and redesigned it as the "Mako Shark II" in 1965. The original Mako Shark was then retroactively called the "Mako Shark I".
The 1968 Corvette styling was highly derivative of the Mako Shark II.
I don't really see it as being off topic, we are just playing a good game of "what if". There is no real way to confirm that the Kappa framed cars will be canceled aside from a press release from GM, but what is the harm in speculating on what will happen if they are?
GM could easily make up for some of their losses with the Kappa car. I for one, would be very interested in a "limited" Solstice edition that uses high-end products, leather, and has all the bells and whistles, racing suspension, tuned engine etc...and having had my base solstice since 2006, would not hesitate to upgrade. This would add margin back into the car.
I could upgrade now to the GXP but I am holding out for something like I noted above.
I totally agree. I know GM monitors the Forum, and you can be sure, especially this thread. So GM, this one's for you - Rather than canceling this great car, upgrade it and charge more for it to make a profit. Don't mess with the great exterior styling at all, but upgrade the interior and put in the fastest engine you can, something like a turbo with a tune. Compete against the Lotus rather than the Miata. Maybe you have your doubts about whether this could work, give it a try, though. You've got a lot of sunk cost into this car, it's worth trying.

LOVED that car! MAKO SHARK...Have the Franklin Mint Model of it. What is not shown is the glass bubble top for the car...not really missing anything there. I do have a fantasy that those exhausts should be on the passenger side of the Sol, though, IMHO. Lawyers would have a caniption fit if Lutz even mentioned it, I'm sure.

I am so in agreement with you BellaVerde... Header of the engine directly into a passenger side mounted side exhaust...maybe a dummy on the other side just for balance...or mayby a 2 by 2 both side arrangement.
