While I'm not clear on all the Tech-speak in cyberbikers response here, I do agree that Dan is on absolutely the right course.
Where is the wuzzyfurdle anyway? i think I may need to check mine.
It should be next to your keneveling pin which is near the muffler bearing.

If you try to check it, it'll degauss....

Thanks to Linda (gbslysol) at SoS, My Sol has a name!! She told me that with the stripes, every time she looked in the rear-view during the run, it looked like a giant ladybug was following them, so Ladybug is the name I've been searching for to call my Sol!
A steel leather steering wheel was found in a salvage yard in Michigan that parted out the pre-production Solstices (THANKS DEVO). It's the LAST steel leather steering wheel they had that is a match to my car. I passed the info on to GM to see if they can use it on my car. Aren't friends great!!!!!!

can't wait to see what GM gets charged for that steering wheel!
That's true considering it was theirs to begin with and when they get it back they will probably rebuilt the entire electronics portion of the wheel. The good thing is I may actually end up with a Steel colored steering wheel and not with a black one in my car.

seriously though, there are good reasons for lawsuits and suing them for this would be better for every other solstice owner. GM will pay for this dude's rental, they will treat him very nicely, they will fix up his car, and then they will send him on his merry way and try to conceal any evidence that there is any defect. by suing, you make it economically unfeasible to do that and make them proactive in fixing the cause and creating a recall.
Good reasons, yea there are a few, for having to hire a weasel lawyer, and no I don't live in the F'ing woods.
Now that assumption that living in the woods would be lesser than living in the middle of some dirty city, or would make me stupid or something....I should sue yer @ss for defamation of character....dissing trees and all.

Oh, and while I was gone I married off my only daughter to a recent graduate of Penn State. There are fewer of them in Houston than Solstices. He got my blessing when he said he had watched through the fence in Wilmington when the first 1000 were being assembled.
If he hasn't found it yet, there are more local Penn State clubs and alumni chapters around the world in major cities than of any other college.
The Houston Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association was established in 1986. The first Officers of the club were voted into office in August of 1986. The officers of the club meet approximately once per month to discuss club business. Club events are held periodically throughout the year.
The overall purpose of the club is to bring Alumni of Penn State together and help them to keep in touch with each other as well as events happening at the University. One of the focuses of the club has been spreading the word about Penn State to graduating High school students through our Alumni Admissions Committee and their attendance at local college fairs. In 1994 one Houston area student was offered admission to Penn State, in 2006-2007 90 students applied, 70 students were offered admission and 17 entered the university.
Additionally the Club, in conjunction with the main alumni association, has established an endowed scholarship fund for students from the Houston area attending Penn State. In 1993 this fund had ~ $10,000 in it, today there is over $50,000. Approximately $2500 in scholarships were awarded to students in 2007. If you are interested in donating to the endowed scholarship, a TAX Deductable donation can be made. See our membership form for more details.

Mike, if GM wanted to make this go away or have Dan not touch a keyboard so that we would not know what is going on they certainly could have, long ago. What you suggest, as to recall, has absolutely no merit and no bearing - yet. Recalls do not get issued for isolated undetermined causes and cases. Dan's car, as far as I can tell, is the ONLY Solstice and/or Sky to have experienced this particular meltdown (at least whose owner is a member of the forum). ANd even IF GM can determine without question the exact cause it does not directly translate into recall.
GM has certainly stepped up in so many ways here that you are missing. They have decided to determine the root cause of the fire and thus determine whether any other vehicle is at risk. This is not somehting they had to do. Their response could have been "So? Use your insurance, sucker!" But instead, not only are they intent on solving the chain of events and preventing them from happening again - but also rebuilding Nittany, at th efactory, and not in a service bay - that to me says GM is on the right track.

i didn't suggest a recall, i was saying that it's probably easier for them to sweep things under the rug than to possibly wind up with a recall.
i had a conversation with a friend about something completely different which i think shows the similar mentality of large corporations.
a friend of mine had his cousin come in from out of town and he happens to be a vice president of some oil company, i think it was texaco or exxon. regardless, he starts talking about how great his company is and how environmentally friendly they are becoming and cites the example of how they are digging up all of the gas station tanks in his region (colombia) and replacing them with some new double walled leak sensing tanks because they are so nice and eco friendly. what he didn't say was that it's cheaper to replace all the tanks in the country than to pay for the lawsuits from all the contaminated groundwater from leaky tanks. if anyone does not see the analogy, i can spell it out more clearly. i'm just kind of tired of typing right now.

This thread has been on for 37 days and as of the time I am typing this there have been 14,731 hits. That is over 398 hits per day. GM would have a hard time sweeping this issue under any rug no matter how deep the pile. Crucify them AFTER they make a statement if you don't believe it, not before.
