i'mma gonna hurt someone

first off, let me thank everyone who's posted for the excellent information. I am now locked and loaded (with info).

i picked my car up on saturday morning after having the rear diff recall service done. in the previous two days that i had left my car there i called three times to make sure that they were adding the additive too the diff. each time the service guy said it was not needed and it was included in the replacement fluid. by the way, they did drain the entire diff. as of today, sunday, i got the grinding noise of the clutches binding while taking a slow corner.

having already had the seal replaced a year and half ago, and another dealership forgot the additive then, i explained this to them. he told me he was certain it was not needed now. this new dealership opens at 7:30, and i will be calling at 7:40 and it will not be a pleasant way to start a monday morning for them.

thanks to you guys, i now have the parts number, and the knowledge that the fluid for the solstice lsd does not have the additive mixed in. i will finish reading all the posts just to make sure i have all my facts straight. i can tell you i'm pretty bullsh*t about this tech not taking me seriously enough to even look up the information and double check to see if i knew what i was talking about.

and as a side note, i stopped by the dealership late friday evening, as i have some seriously bad waterspots they were going to attempt to polish out. as i looked over the car, the spots were definetly still there, and i absently tugged on the door handle of the car and it opened up. yup. they left my car completely open sitting outside on the side of the building.

so if anyone knows of a good dealership in central massachusetts please let me know as i am never going back to this one again!!

can someone email me the actual current bulletin or bulletin number that states when doing the recall job the additive is the be added as needed. the dealer is still denying that the additive needs to be in there and i may have another problem with the rear diff if i'm getting the growling grinding noise from the rear end under slow cornering. they are researching the problem right now, but i'd rather just hand them the information.

The Recall is #07204 and the recall procedure bulletin would be 07204D. Same number that would be on the information you received in the mail and probably listed on your repair order.

The only thing close to what you are looking for in the recall bulletin is in the Parts Information section where among the 8 parts listed is include this line:

Quote:
Part Number..............................Description... ...............................Qty/ Vehicle

01052358 - US/00992694 - CN....Lubricant, Limited-Slip Differential...1 (if needed)

Here is the service procedure as detailed in the recall bulletin:

Quote:
1. Remove the pinion seal. Refer to the appropriate pinion seal replacement procedure in SI.

2. Replace the pinion seal. Refer to the appropriate pinion seal replacement procedure in SI.

INFORMATION POSTED ON SITE
Any Service Manual, Technical Service Bulletin, Priliminary Service Bulletin, Part, Accessory, Sales or Product information found here on site, should be thought of as correct and accurate as of the date it was posted. After that any information or service procedure should be confirmed as still correct with your dealership.
