What's that about there being a long wait for parts?

Right or wrong, the general perception is that American car quality is poor compared to Japanese vehicles (my other vehicles are a Toyota truck and a sporty/commuter Honda). Now, this perception may be flawed, but it is a general pereception most people have.

I would be paying cash for a Solstice. But, that doesn't mean I want something that becomes a money pit or has 3 times the maintenance demands and half the reliability of a Miata.

I also am practical.

If I bought a Solstice I would see myself driving it 15-20K miles a year and want to know if it's up to the challenge. I live in California and there are many fair weather days here that make driving a convertible inviting.
Without any financial concerns, I would say go for it. I have had nothing but fun with this car. As to availablity of parts, some people have had quite a wait, but it depends on what parts are needed.

Sounds like you got a good deal.

Chuck

Ok - I've had my 2006 Solstice a year and a bit. Bought it used 07/07/07 with 4000kms on it. I now have 32000kms on it. So far - oil changes (2), rear diff - recall, rear diff - making a slight noise which I would ignore except it'll be off warranty in January) and two broken cables which lift the flaps on the silver surround when the top comes up. They will be replaced under warranty soon.

I'd say - considering how hard I beat this car, that it's been great.

Oh ya - and I supercharged it too - DDM adds 90HP just for kicks.

Go for it. Try an Amreican made car, you might realize you've been paying too much for those imports.
