Pontiac will be increasing the price on three options starting with Solstices produced on Spetember 16th.
They are:
Premuim Package up $100 to $690
Chrome Wheels up $100 to $795
Polished Wheels up $50 to $545
Now here is the important part:
All (and only) qualified bona fide sold retail orders entered in VOMS on or before September 15, 2005 and delivered to the original customer after that date will be price protected. These units will be invoiced/billed (window sticker) at prices in effect at the date of production; however, the dealer will automatically be credited for the price increase once the unit has been delivered.
Because I know someone will ask, What happens if I change my exsisting order (in before 9/15/05) by adding the Chrome Wheels? Which price will I get? I don't know. Never been down that road before. But guess the higher price.
You guys are going to have to hope that your dealerships entered your orders as sold and in your names. And stick up for your rights. Print this thread out and keep it for delivery time.

Small Dealer, you continue to be our Oracle at Delphi. We honor thee and bid thee glad tidings. (Translation: thanks and hope the 2nd 4 month allocation has some cars in it for you.)
Here's a reference for a brief discussion of that for which we have nick named you:
From PBS.org: The Oracle at Delphi

Dating back to 1400 BC, the Oracle of Delphi was the most important shrine in all Greece, and in theory all Greeks respected its independence. Built around a sacred spring, Delphi was considered to be the omphalos - the center (literally navel) of the world.
People came from all over Greece and beyond to have their questions about the future answered by the Pythia, the priestess of Apollo. And her answers, usually cryptic, could determine the course of everything from when a farmer planted his seedlings, to when an empire declared war.
Arguments over the correct interpretation of an oracle were common, but the oracle was always happy to give another prophecy if more gold was provided. A good example is the famous incident before the Battle of Salamis when the Pythia first predicted doom and later predicted that a 'wooden wall' (interpreted by the Athenians to mean their ships) would save them.
The lack of a strict religious dogma associated with the worship of Greek gods also encouraged scholars to congregate at Delphi, and it became a focal point for intellectual enquiry, as well as an occasional meeting place where rivals could negotiate.
Delphi became a fantastic showcase of art treasures and all Greek states would send rich gifts to keep the Oracle on their side. It finally came to an end in the 4th century AD when a newly Christian Rome proscribed its prophesying.
The surprising thing is how much of this applies in the case of Small Dealer and the Solstice Forum. Maybe we sould alert Troy (no not the rival state, the fellow who runs the site) that... Oh, never mind.

SmDlr:
Can you clarify what a "qualified bona fide sold retail order" is? I have been in "preliminary order" status since May 7th...yet the dealer cashed the $500 check. Taking and cashing a deposit check and entering the order into VOMs should lock in the MSRP IMHO.

I'm going to guess here, but if the dealer hasn't already marked the order as "Retail Sold", then you might be in for an extra $50 to $200, depending on how many of the involved options you have.
If you didn't order the premium package, the chrome or polished wheels, then there will be no price change.
Now for the real issue:
You need to find out whether your dealer even has any vehicles for their first 4 month allocation.
If so, then you may want to work with the fleet manager, or the owner/president and see if you can clarify the status of your order.
It's a bit tricky, and I think Cadillacricket can check on your order if you know your VOM number. But certainly, you dealer can check for you.

If you had an order and it has been put into VOMS (Vehicle Order Management System) as a sold order in the same name that will be used to report delivery (title & registation), then you are Price Protected.
The "bona fide" means that the order actually exsists and is backed up with a dated signed completed purchase agreement/buyer's contract. We know how hard those are to get around here .
"Retail" means not a "Fleet" order. "Fleet" is defined as .....never mind I think you will all get the idea.
"Qualified" means "all of the above", that you are in on time, are retail, labeled as sold, and have paperwork.
So Solace and Fortimir, your orders should be price protected.
Who wouldn't be protected? Any order from Friday September 16th on out. Anyone who takes over another's order, either a new "buyer" or someone abandoning their order to move up to another order.
UPDATE 9-18-05 These "buyers" would be eligible for price protection. The dealership would just need documentation putting the "sales" on or before 9-15-05. They would need to file manually on paper to get the credit. Any order that is sitting in the dealership's office desk draw waiting for allocation slots before they enter it into VOMS. Anyone that the dealership entered as a stock order even though it was sold, knowing they would keep track of it in house. Anyone that "bought" an order that was already "picked up" as a stock order.
I think everyone should be able to figure out where they stand. There have been posts from people who have been told that their "sold' order would be sold to them at the price in effect at the time of delivery. I have responded to many of them, pointing out GM's Price Protection Policy and wording. In effect telling them that the dealership is not being truthful (Yes being critical on dealerships well before the Bonzo Audit Scorecard), and to watch out for just this situation.
Now more then ever, the advice of others who have been pushing everyone to go get a signed priced purchase agreement is important. Get it done before the car shows up, the clock starts ticking, and the price is not what you thought you agreed to.
I suppose I could have just replied "YES" to mceb's post.

Small Dealer: Thanks for clearing some of this up for us. Unfortunately, my dealer's Sales Manager is giving me a different scoop in his letter earlier this month: "As far as price protection is concerned, the factory will price protect a vehicle only after it has been accepted into production. This does not affect the cars that are sitting in the order bank."
My Vehicle Order Detail has the six letter vehicle order number (starting with "J") associated with my name, with the "preliminary order" accepted and added on May 7.
Oh yeah...another ambiguity in the deal: "Sales price will be MSRP." The dealer claims that the price will be the MSRP that applies when it is accepted into production...and he thinks that may be in the first quarter of 2006.
If you had an order and it has been put into VOMS (Vehicle Order Management System) as a sold order in the same name that will be used to report delivery (title & registation), then you are Price Protected.

Small Dealer,
I have an odd question regarding the rules of the price protection policy. Between the time of ordering and time of delivery, I have gotten divorced and changed my name. So my car will not be "in the same name" when it is titled and registered, and yet I am the same person. Will the name change void the price protection policy? Or if Iprovide the dealership with proof of the name change can they can use that documentation to get credit for the price difference?

Went to my dealer yesterday to see a Solstice that he had on loan from Pontiac, and believe me it is beautiful. He told me about the price increase on some of the options. He also informed me this applies to Solstices that are ordered after the price increase, so I take it if you ordered one befor Sept. 15th, you should fall under the old price structure.

The price protection policy is actually a great system. The dealership gives you the original selling price and then just fights with GM for the credit. So in your case, the system will not see the "same name" and generate an automatic credit to the dealership. The
