Scary times - service appointment

Well I have no choice but to bring mako back into a dealership to have my rear end leak looked at again - its dripping every time I drive it again. Some of you might recall that the last time I had this addressed my baby was lifted improperly resulting in body and wheel well damage (wheel wells remain unrepaired to this day) and with Nashville coming up quick I realize I must have it addressed.

So needless to say I am very concerned about the "experience" again and had a tough call to make....do I go elsewhere or the same place....I am opting for the same place.

I stopped in today to set the appointment for Thursday and sure enough, they remember me...go figure. They assured me that there will not be a repeat incident (which is why I figured I might as well go back....surely they will not mess up again). In fact they asked if I was due for an oil change and I am - they said they would be happy to comp that even when I said I wanted mobil 1 - as well they will rotate my tires and as there is some chance depending on what is wrong with the rear end they might need to keep it overnight so they went ahead and arranged a loaner for me as well. So far so good, now lets hope they get the car on the lift properly and get the rear sealed up tight.

Wish me luck I am hoping to break the streak of two dealer services two resulting damage cases. So my forum friends please keep a kind thought for Mako in your thoughts Thursday!

P.S. If all goes well I will even change my avitar finally.

Good luck ... I just had my second differential installed ... I have a very good dealer ... I brought it in @ 0720 hours and was out on the road with a new differential by 1030 hours.

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles with your car still--it is such a pain to have to keep chasing problems that are caused by a dealer. Which dealer are you going to I know right now I am royally pissed at C.;B. on 50. They have runined my new car and now they have it again. if they do not fix it this time I am going to tun them in for the lemon law- UGH I have never really had a new GXP because of them- GOOD LUCK and hope it is not them---

No I am not going to CB - although they were the first dealer service damage! I am going to the dealer near my place of work and its in Longwood, what that lack in carefulness (the first time) they make up for in Courtesy (wink wink) and I have high hopes that they will take extra care this time....but we shall see.

Well heres the news so far so good, I brought it in yesterday and they have kept it overnight waiting for the relief valve replacement parts (even though I told them thats what the problem was going to be) and I am hoping to be back in Mako early this afternoon. They kept her in the shop last night (rather than in the lot) which I drove past last night to verify. They sure are treating me like royality which is nice, but all I care about is getting the car back undamaged....

You know...you really should never have to fear going to the service department.
Yet we all have horror stories about it. And it's a general problem no matter where you go. There are exceptions, though I have never been one of them.
Why is GM so utterly incompetent about almost everything they do?
Are we going to be buying new diffs every year once our warranty is out? -Lumix

Knock on wood, only diff. problem here was overfill corrected.

Near horror story this past week when having my car serviced at 12,00 miles before going to the GA Shine Run. Car's ready and waiting out front, I was told. Paid the bill, walked outside with keys and invoice to.....

Whoever had pulled my car around front left it parked with the nose hanging over a concrete parking stop!!!!

I mmediately felt under the nose for contact. Whew, there was none, but came within 1/8"!!! I marched right back in and first thing I told the Service Manager was, "You came this close to repainting or replacing my Solstice's front end!!" He followed me back outside and looked at it, asked me several times if it was scratched. I told him no, that he'd better talk to whoever pulled it around. He said they all know about those cars and that he'd have a word or two with them. My dealership prides itself with my car. It was the first Sol sold there and the first sold in Calhoun County, AL.

Differential leaks

My 06 developed a leak at 4000 miles. This happened as a result of the dealership changing the oil and filter. Seems that the tech in checking the fluid level in the differential he determined it need a little bit and added too much. It must be easy to do but the problem was corrected at the dealer and has not leaked since.
