Solli’s All-American, Cross-Country, Rt. 66 Road Trip

Well I’m back, after spending four spectacularly glorious weeks, free-as-a bird tooling along some of America’s best scenic drives. The roads I drove were twisty, hairpin, switchbacks, made from Portland concrete, asphalt, dirt and gravel, ranging from 2,000 feet to 12,980 feet elevation without guardrails.

Here's my intinerary:

1. Kansas City, MO for the 1st National Solstice Meet

2. Boulder, Colorado for a trip through the Rocky Mountain National Park with a sidewinder into Denver for the band Hot Tuna. - pics -posted
3. Jackson Hole, Wyoming for the Grand Tetons - pics- -posted

4. West Yellowstone, Montana for the Yellowstone National Park - pics -posted

5. Post Falls, Idaho for the Silverwood Theme Park

6. Hood River, Oregon for the Pacific Solstice’s Solli4meet to Mt. Hood -(pics on the Solli4meet thread) -posted
-

7. Astoria, Oregon and southern Route 101 along the coast to -California - pics-posted

8. Redwood National Forest, California -pics-posted

9. Groveland, California for Yosemite National Park -pics-posted

10. Route 66 to Moabi Desert and the Joshua Tree National Park

11. Rt. 66 Needles, CA

12. Rt. 66 Kingman, AZ -pics-posted

13. Route 66 Flagstaff, AZ - pics -posted

14. The Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert -pics-posted

15. Rt. 66 Winslow, AZ -pics-posted

16. Rt. 66 Holbrook, AZ -pics-posted

17. Rt. 66 Santa Rosa, NM -pics-posted

18. Rt. 66 Tucumcari, NM -pics-posted

19. Santa Fe, NM -pics-posted

20. Rt. 66 Clines Corners, NM

21. Rt. 66 Shamrock, Texas -pics-posted

22. Rt. 66 Texola, Oklahoma -pics-posted

23. Rt. 66 Canute, OK -pics-posted

24. Rt. 66 Clinton, OK -pics-posted

25. Rt. 66 Hydro, OK -pics-posted

Sounds like quite a trip Solli. Waiting on the pictures. Would be nice to take four weeks off at a time. Maybe someday. Glad you had a safe trip.

Welcome home Solli.... glad you made it safe and sound!

It appears that you *Got Your Kicks on Route 66* - those are indeed some fantastic sites and a wonderful memory for your co-pilot!

Don't know why the pics are coming out different sizes. They're all resized to 900. I found a lot of "SOL" signs and of course, I had to take pictures of them.

Sun broke for a little while but we were out of there by 6pm. It was magnificent and it certainly helped me deal with my fear of heights.
Smoking clutch on the way down, tho.
