Your photos are pretty spectacular! I like this one:

At that point I said to my son: "Look, Mike! See that big thing in front of us?
What is it?" He said "It's the sun, mom." I said, No, the sun is setting behind us, it's not the sun." We both keep looking trying to guess when he said "It's the MOON!"
Honest to God, I almost passed out. I've never seen a moon that big climbing from behind the mountains like that. I had to pull over to call everybody back east just to tell them about it - the biggest moon I'll ever see until the day I die. Tried to take pictures but the moon had risen and it was getting smaller.
Does this happen often? I know it was just an optical illusion but what a spectacular sight!
that would have been an amazing photo, with your solstice in the foreground!
i wonder if the moon was at perigee? at perigee the moon is 12% bigger because it is nearest the earth. how often does perigee occur? here's a link to an msnbc story on the bigger moon:

Muchas, Muchas Gracias...
...for the tour! Calendar quality photos there. They brought back many memories from my family's tour across in 1965. The twisty photos make me want to get in Bella V. right NOW! And thanks for the bridge photos...veddy, veddy interesting, to me(bridge design engineer).

Cool! Glad you enjoyed them! I'm still living the memories and when something pops up on the newstube, my son says "Hey! we were there!"
I've got a fascination with bridge design also. Love watching the History/Discovery channels whenever engineering programs are scheduled.
Here's another one taken on the Oregon coast; the obelisks look art deco to me.

Photos of the trip are AWESOME!!!! My mom always wanted to drive across country, so I'm thinking we (DH & I) have to take her. She'll be 87 next month! Of course that means we can't take our Sky R/L, but, hey, that means we only have to do it again by ourselves! Anyway, we want to know, WHERE CAN WE GET THAT LUGGAGE RACK???? We Don't want the thing that Saturn designed and would prefer something that we can leave in storage when we don't need it. If anyone knows where they can be located, PLEASE let us know! Thanks!

All those great photos. Why not create a Route 66 calendar? I'll bet you have a template and everything from another little calendar project you did Just a thought...

Yep!
Solli's pictures are part of the reason I thought it would be a great start to next years convention. Also the movie CARS, as seen at least once a month by my grandkids at our house makes it look inviting.
For those of you who haven't seen these pictures lately, why no take a look. Maybe you won't think that it's too far to go with the rest of us.
