Hey Bird! There is so much to see and do, I barely covered a fraction of it.
Mikey was a gas to travel with, so much fun, he kept me laughing. It was great getting to know him as the wacky nine year old. I know the lyrics to "I Go Bananas for Bananas" and "Catboy" now.
All the National Parks have so much to see that you need a week or two to really explore them. I was in and out in under 4 days. The Grand Canyon was a day trip and I missed seeing "The Monuments" which were further north by the Utah line. I went into Sedona's Red Rock country instead.
You could spend two weeks anywhere on the Oregon coast, but South Cannon Beach was perfect in my book.
I'm thinking about another RT.66 trip... my pics of Texola & Hydro, Oklahoma are next.

You can find the original Portland Concrete of Rt. 66 just east of Shamrock so that’s where I headed. I drove its winding curves into Oklahoma around 10am where I found a Historic Rt.66 welcome sign and an old bar. As I was taking pictures, a white pickup pulled around. Uh oh, I thought. Here comes trouble.
When I saw the RT.66 cap on his head, I burst out laughing and we started to converse. Turns out Gale here was the former owner of this bar and he told me quite a bit of history about his little town. Bought a local country singer’s CD at his store, too. He gave up a big smile for the camera but it came out too dark. I took this poor man's picture 3 times.

On the way to Clinton and the National RT.66 Museum, I spotted this little town called Canute, OK. It once had two motels and a Uniroyal Tires store.

Great pictures! Thanks so much for taking the time to share them with us. They make me want to plan for a 4 week vacation, something I have never done. I do plan to save all your information, because someday I want to take the same trip.
I wish everyone could do it at least once. It's just too fascinating to miss.

The town of Hydro was once home to Lucille, otherwise known as the Mother of the Mother Road. She ran a gas station and a luncheonette until her death in 2000. The old 66 has original Portland Concrete and runs a nice route to the Pony Bridge which was built in 1933 and uses 38 trusses to cross the South Canadian River.

Ok, so I am once again back to this thread of awesome pictures! I am so totally jealous. I just ask Keith "when can we do the Rt. 66 trip?"

Paul, I took your advice and hit every Walgreen/RiteAid in town. Got about 30 cds right now.
Shirley, I'd do a Rt 66 trip in a heatbeat next year. There's so much that I didn't get to see. Maybe we can get a forum thing going.

I have never been to (almost) any of the places that you just returned from. And, never did have the 'want' to visit them, either. However, looking at your pictures makes me want to go there..ALL those places!
You did a really good with your photos. Like others that are posting here, I keep on coming back to find more photos and keep smiling with each one as they get better and better!! I just got through with the first few posts on Page 2 and I will get to the rest later on. WHEN WILL THEY STOP?? SO MANY PICS AND SO LITTLE TIME.....YIKES!
