Photos of the trip are AWESOME!!!! My mom always wanted to drive across country, so I'm thinking we (DH & I) have to take her. She'll be 87 next month! Of course that means we can't take our Sky R/L, but, hey, that means we only have to do it again by ourselves! Anyway, we want to know, WHERE CAN WE GET THAT LUGGAGE RACK???? We Don't want the thing that Saturn designed and would prefer something that we can leave in storage when we don't need it. If anyone knows where they can be located, PLEASE let us know! Thanks!

All those great photos. Why not create a Route 66 calendar? I'll bet you have a template and everything from another little calendar project you did Just a thought...

Solli's pictures are part of the reason I thought it would be a great start to next years convention. Also the movie CARS, as seen at least once a month by my grandkids at our house makes it look inviting.
For those of you who haven't seen these pictures lately, why no take a look. Maybe you won't think that it's too far to go with the rest of us.

Hey, John, wait to you see what's on the cover of the SOLGAL Calendar! A version of CARS definately makes its appearance as a tribute to that little town of Shamrock, Texas where the 1934 Art Deco Conoco Station on Rt. 66 was restored for the movie.
After we finish a project at work, we get together with all the different groups who had a hand in it. We sit down and have a "Lessons Learned" meeting to discuss what went right and what went wrong.
After all these months, do you have any "Do's n Don'ts"..."Skip this road", etc?
Just curious what your thoughts are after almost 2 years.
I'm still here I often revisit the trip in my minds eye - certain areas made such an impact on me - just today I wandered back into Arizona, some days I go back to Wyoming and Oregon, take the trip down the coast again.
I don't spend too much time revisiting Kansas or Arkansas for some reason. (no offense to anyone)
Since I pretty much accomplished what I set out to do, I'm satisfied with how it went. The only thing I'd change (if I were financially able) would be to travel for six weeks instead of four so that I could stay a few days longer in certain locations. Nothing is worse that having to be in another state by a preset time and dally so long exploring, that the four - five hour drive turns into a tiresome 12 hour one.
I plan to rely on my Garmin next time. Can't quite believe I printed and followed mapquest, but it worked.
Do keep hydrated. Do take a zillion pictures. Do follow Old Rt. 66. Do see as many National Parks as you can. Yellowstone was awesome as were the Grand Tetons. Tioga Pass in Yosemite was a marvel. See the tufa, sagebrush and the color that hangs in the sky. It goes pink as you enter Colorado. God, there's just so much.
I look forward to driving out to Denver next year for the Nationals! I am going to stretch it to at least 2 weeks and try to see a lot of this great country.
