It really hurt my brain when I saw the picture of the Sol mushed up against the barrier!!! It truly is amazing what some manufacturers are designing and building. How can such a small car produce such astonishing results in such violent situations? Remember the pictures of the Sol that t-boned the Dodge SUV? The Sols doors still worked while the SUV was bent in the middle. Wow.

I know you know I'm just adding to your thought,,your quote " How can such a small car produce such astonishing results in such violent situations?"
Because it has a frame,,, its not a cookie sheet with wheels.I stopped and test drove the sol, I was impressed and I liked the style, but,,,,,,,,, then I opened the hood and saw the frame and suspension I was sold and so was that sol, I drove it away 1 hour later.Buy the way it was the first one I had ever seen also I paid wayyy over MSR,,,, It was worth every penny, that was May 15th 06 and the 89 strait days without rain in Seattle that we enjoyed last summer was absolutely priceless.
I'm happy it has a five star rollover rating, but it had me wondering just how that is possible. Is it in comparison to soft top convertible standards, or does it get measured against regular hard top cars?

I'm imagining you're so low the car would have to have to crush quite a bit to do too much damage to you
also, is their structure in those humps behind our head?
I was thinking the rating referred to how likely the vehicle was to roll over in the first place. In that regard, with as low as she Solstice is with such a wide stance it would be more difficult to roll.

Exactly. Rollover rating is based on the static stability factor, or the ratio of the center of gravity height to half the track.
All of the sport coupes (vette, Z4, Z3, MX5, S2K, MR2, XLR, kappas) are 5 star rollover.
