Would be interesting if this question were to be posted on the Sky fourm their cars look much more like a C6 than the Solstice.

I will say that my Solstice Coupe gets more looks at our local car hangout than my C6 Coupe. But the Vette will out perform the Solstice. Then again the Vette cost about 35% more. But fewer nice to have things (F55 suspension, able to bring the top with you when it's out of the car, lesser grade materials were used, stamped steel parts vice aluminum were used like in the front cross member, etc...

Bang for the buck, I would say the Solstice is a better deal if you never plan on going more than the speed limit or push the car.

Do not understand your statement, specially when looking at your own cars and their posted performance.
That is less than 2 seconds between your Vette and your Solstice.

I think the owner would be very close to the cost of a new Vette if they wanted a 11 second Solstice. I am betting it won't be street friendly or very reliable. But if they only wanted an American made BASIC ENTRY LEVEL sports car with enough power to get them a speeding ticket then the Solstice fits that bill perfectly. A new Solstice GXP was around $32,000, I guess a NA Solstice was only $26,000? A new Vette is around $44,000 for a coupe and $56,000 for a vert now. Most owners on here have no desire to go fast so the lower cost of a Solstice is better use of their money.

My boss, the guy who has been through 3 BMW M5's (the last a V10) and a Maserati Gran something or other and who currently is driving a Jeep (a whole 'nother story), he has lust in his eyes every time I drive the black Sol to work. The only thing he has asked to date is "does anyone make a V8 conversion for that thing?"

Said like a true motor head. The kappa is almost perfectly balanced in terms of weight, power and handling. To toss a V8 into this platform is almost heresy. I know forum members have done it; that's their privilege. But to just look at the a machine and want to start hacking it apart; that's heresy.

I think you hit on the biggest difference in Kappa and Corvette, the engine. Also think if you put 245mm width on either C5/C6 your looking at a driver's race in just about every category.

How would my Sky haul two 48" wooden pallets though like my C5 did? They would not fit in the 05 CTS-V.

Which goes to show they are not comparable cars. You have to add or take away from one or the other which is why it is apple to oranges. They are both 2 seater sports cars from GM and the Sol shares some of the Vette technology (hydro-forming parts, center tunnel, fuse box location, etc.), but they are really different animals. If you have ever driven both, like I have, you can see and feel the they are different and it is substantial. Each has it positives and negatives.
