Everyone approaches the forum with a different perspective, and with a VERY busy region like the Great Lakes, lots of stuff going on in lots of clubs/states, locating threads related to a particular club was far too cumbersome.
Just because the option is available, doesn't mean every club must use it. That's why it was offered, and clubs that WANT to use it have the option.

The front page recent posts is only 10 deep, and you are not able to jump direct to the last post you read or end of the thread like you can from either the new post list or actual forum index. How usable, really, is it - unless we can get the front page to match what occurs deeper in. That's one for the techies in charge of overall page design - not something under our control. Keep in mind that the old tire poll still showing on that front page is an indication of issues with that page. Not something to rely on at this point.
Also, probably a good point you brought up that older obsolete threads do not have to be moved right away or ever. It's just that as newer and current threads are moved the older ones will migrate to the top of the upper level's page.
<edit> I just realized that the front page 10 threads DOES allow you to jump direct to the very last post as well as the very first post, but still will not take you to teh last post viewed or allow marking as read/unread.
