Squeeky!

question, my odometer just rolled over 22000 and since about 21700 ive heard this squeeking noise coming from my front end every time i hit a bump or go over a speed bump. it's only in the front, not the back. steering is fine. the one thing i thought of is the strut mounts. does that sound about right? or if not, help me out

Based on your location (Hawaii), it surely cannot be the weather. Mine squeaks but only if its freezing cold outside. It's 80 right now (gotta love Texas) and I hear no sounds at all. Tomorrow morning it's supposed to be near freezing (again, gotta love Texas) and I bet I will hear it if I take it out for a morning cruise.

Some other people on here have suggested using some silicone spray on the bushings as they tend to get dry.

There is one for the torsion bar bushings in cold weather. Had mine replaced off the TSB shortly after I got to MI.

Subject: Squeak/Squawk Noise from Front End When Driving Over Bumps (Replace Front Stabilizer Clamps and Insulators (Bushings))

Models: 2007 Pontiac Solstice
2007 Saturn Sky
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment on a squeak/squawk noise from the front suspension while driving over small bumps.

Cause
This condition may be caused by the contacted surfaces of the insulator bushings squeaking against the stabilizer bar and/or clamp in cold weather.

Correction
Vehicles Equipped with FE2 Suspension
On FE2 suspension vehicles, replace the original insulator bushings with same part number (P/N 15887219) and install revised replacement clamps, P/N 15784871.

Vehicles Equipped with FE3 Suspension
Replace the insulator bushings with revised bushings, P/N 25789241. At this time, also replace the insulator clamps with P/N 15784871.

awesome. also has anyone had any problems with their passenger cup holder. mine is stuck either in the open or closed. and has to be forced in and out. not the center console, the passenger side.

I have a squeak but it's actually my springs' bushing/cushion/gasket (whatever is between the spring and it's contact), so says my dealer, who has been good to me so far, so I need to be calling Eibach and see whats up

My GXP started squeaking @ 22500. I removed the front stabilizer clamps and slightly separated the slit on the bushings. There was a dried scale-like contamination between the bushing and the stabilizer bar. Sprayed a light coating of "PB Blaster" and reassembled. No squeaks for 1000 mi. It it comes back, will seek replacement from the dealer and will post here. I have used this procedure before on other cars and have been successful (I'm retired master tech) - it depends on the composition of the bushing material.

The dealership coated mine until the replacements arrived for them to swap out.

Try a silcone based lubricant like DuPont Teflon Silicone. Wd40 will just dry the bushings out.

it's a tight fit so I don't think just spraying it on there would really get in between the bushing and the bar well. I'd say you'd have to at lease loosen it up either way.
