Still no fenders

My car goes to shop tomorrow (monday) to get some damage repaired on the passenger's side where a kid hit me. So figured, this is the perfect time to get some body mods done. Ordered my body kit from Kappasphere which is a fantastic company to deal with in my experience. And I got some new fenders from Norm's Fiberglass. Date with the shop? Check. Body kit? Check. Fenders? No fenders. My order was processed on June 11th. RKSport is a corporation and Norm has his own small private business. I got it. But 4 weeks? Come on. I was told they'd be here before my car went shop. Am I being over the top here or should I be rightfully discouraged? Anyone else dealt with Norm's Fiberglass had any issues or could let me know what I should've expected? I know I should've asked these questions before I bought but in hind sight, I'm just looking for a little piece of mind. Thanks.

I spoke with Norm yesterday...he is REALLY backed up but doing his best to get parts out. His parts are not off the shelf, they are made to order which takes time, and they are quality items.

That's fine but I was told that they would be here by him prior to my car going to the shop. An honest update would've been appreciated so I could've pushed my date back. Now the shop is expected a slightly damaged car to repair, a set of fenders to paint and install and a 3 piece body kit. I have to tell this guy that he may have to let my car take up space while I wait for the rest of the pieces? He has every right to tell me sorry, get your car out of here when it's done like everybody else. Will he say that? probably not but it's the principal.

justa lil common courtesy

of course i'd be disappointed and miffed ....... - justa lil common courtesy in the form of an email - update on the later delivery than promised .........is only fair !!.....

if your parts are in transit - you should have a tracking #- if they haven't left yet - wellllllllll he knew he wasn't making delivery as promised ...... why not have given you a heads up last week ? or at some point when it was obvious there would be a delay......... OR was it a target date with you jumping the gun -

its not fair to make you look like a jackass ( don't have your **** together as prearranged for an appt ), you really shouldn't have made an appt for parts you don't have ---- hahaha dayum that hindsight 20/20 ****

not fair surprise your bodyman 2mmrra - day of appt -with the sad story of "don't have all the parts yet " - i don't see how he'd wanna be painting parts separately on different days - he might could have re arranged his appts and had WORK taken someone else who was ready and rescheduled you------ at least had the OPTION.....

- i can't see him eager to be responsible for the safety of your car while he can't work to finish the job.....and if you don't have the parts yet who is to say if the wait is going to be a day or a week or 2 ??... why would you wanna bring your car in to sit
.. i know for my mechanic its a 30 min process in the morning and in the evening moving cars around - because before they close everything gets moved inside for security and out to clear the work spots again in the morning........
so at the least you've created a hardship on the bodyman -even if he says ok just park it and we'll wait
i doubt he has unlimited safe parking

who wants their car sitting around waiting to get dinged -
nothankyou i don't want to play musical cars in anyones lot/shop

of course he's backed up !..... quality work takes time -

but quality work does not eliminate the need for common courtesy.....if a delivery date was promised - courtesy demands some notification.....

..common courtesy would have taken 5 minutes in the form of an email running late on production - or thread HERE .........hello everyone - because of (____ add excuse ___ ) all our deliveries can be expected to run late -- to be 2-4 days late OR - 2-4 weeks late ......

.... wouldn't matter --> you'd know ...... plan life accordingly....... you could have cancelled the paint job last week....... planned to work yourself instead of taking a day off to play " yay " "goig to the shop " happy happy

- just let people KNOW......or don't make promises you can't keep.......hahaha i vote we make that a rule !!

hell yeah - i'd be alllllllllllll

OK so check it out. It's monday morning. I called Norm. A guy answers the phone and tells me that Norm is out of town for a couple of days. He can't give me the shipping company, the tracking number, his cell phone number, NOTHING! I'm taking my car to the shop in two hours. Can someone who may have a way to get Norm's cell phone number please PLEASE contact me.

Hey Crusader,

When I talked to Norm over the weekend, he was leaving to deliver all the pieces he had made to take to deliver to customers at Nationals but never made Nationals. One of those are mine.
And when I did talk to him, he was backed up and working his a@@ off to get everyone's order complete, and had not slept in 2 days.
Sorry I cant help you with any contact info.
But you should get your fenders soon, he is just really backed up. Just my

My lovely teenage daughters had their heads plugged in (listening to music) when the postman came while I was out and missed a delivery. I'm assuming that's it and it'll be ready for pickup tomorrow. The shop still has to fix a dent first so I have some time but not much, maybe two days, before it's ready for paint. hopefully the next post concerning this will be pics of the finished product.

What body kit did you get? RKSport?

That's the same setup I have. Just letting you know in advance, the front bumper will fit better if you DON'T use the 2 grills that go over the fog lights. Plus if you try to use them, they will scratch the hell out of the surface lens. The guys installing mine had to cut a notch out of the fog light housing in order for the bumper to go back far enough and fit properly. RKSport won't admit it, but the bumper could use some remolding to fit right with no gaps. I had my body shop redo mine until it looked perfect. So don't be surprised if it doesn't look perfect when you pick it up the first time. JUST MAKE SURE THEY TEST FIT IT FIRST BEFORE PREP AND PAINTING IT! By the way, the RKSport body kit is no longer being made. Whatever they have in stock, is all that's left. They are being discontinued. So if you have one already, consider yourself lucky. You will soon have a rare Pontiac Solstice collector's item for sure.

Silver thanks for the heads up on the fog lights. Really appreciate that. They'll be fixing some minor accident damage for the next day and I'll let my guy know about the prefit before paint. And thanks for the pics of your ride. Makes me even more anxious to get it back!

That's a LOT less re-work than I had to do to my GT concept pieces.

Silver -ghost is right on the money with his warnings and advice. Test fit first. I made the mistake of giving the ok to hack away first before test fitting because I was in a hurry, so I couldn't return it and it cost me a couple grand to get it right. Mostly in labor. I think the RK kit is a closer fit product to begin with, just be sure first.

I love Norms stuff. Quality is so much better. Anyone that can pre-paint a replacement aftermarket part for you and it goes right into place is a true master of his craft.

I look forward to seeing the end result.

It's a good idea to go and look at it pre-fit on the car in person, before they remove it and paint it. Don't just take their word for it.

Are you going to paint your grills black or leave them silver? They look better black in my opinion. Plus, it will match the rear stock color fake-grill inserts better. Unless you get the RK sport dual exhaust cut outs. Then you can get the either Carbon fiber filler or the solid figerglass filler and paint it black. It's up to you.
