On a red car, wide white stripes with black pinlines would be excellent. I have not seen faded stripes yet, but there is so much you can do in that direction. For example, you could fade the blue into the white stripes just at the tips and then insert a texture into the stripes that fade out into the white as well and then pin line them in black with quarter inch offset stripes with a quarter inch spacer to reveal the red. If you have the full version of Adobe Photoshop, you can go crazy with ideas without touching your car. You just need a digital shot of the vehicle and then play with those layers!

I have an aggressive solstice, but I never thought about giving it any stripes, but I really like the job done on the ENVY SOL(the inspiration for MARISOL) that had the silver pin stripes and the medium thick stripes on both the hood and rear.

Anyway, I'm not sure what colors would go good with an aggressive or if an aggressive SHOULD have stripes... I really like the color BLACK, but not silver or gray so much.
Here are the original pics of the car that was photoshopped into the deep with white stripes earlier in this thread. I had this done about 6 weeks ago, and the cost for everything (I provided the side stripes, he installed them) was $132 after taxes. Its all done in vinyl.

Thank you both! I tried to find the thread I had on them, but it has expired...

I wondered if you had seen them, Giz, this all happened while you were chasing after your bride-to-be!

cyberbiker, I might get my red solstice done that way as well... but I'm trying to figure out whether I would like the stripes to be as wide as those ones or thinner.

It looks great though....... I have fallen in love with the car having stripes....

Just so you know:

The primaries are 8-1/2" wide, the pins are 1/4" wide and separated from the primaries by 1/2". The gap between the primaries is 3-1/2" to allow them to miss the arrowhead & its raised boss on the front fascia.

My goal is to someday get the car down to just green, black and silver. I want to get clear front marker light covers and tail lights with colored bulbs, paint or sticker the pontiac emblems green like the ones on my wheels, and somehow get rid of the red reflectors over the back up lights.
Ah I LOVE the WIDTH of the stripes on your Solstice! Can you tell me how wide the stripe actually is?

My Solstice is SLY and I have been looking for stripes but don't like the WIDE stripes since I'm a female and the width of YOUR stripes look absolutely fenine compared to others I've seen! What stripe colors do you think look best on the SLY?

I hope I'm not insulting you..... I didn't look to see if you are male or female.lol

AztekzRpurty was my inspiration for stripes as well! The owner's name is Hal and he lives in Frisco, Texas, a cool dude!

I recommend red stripes on the Sly, providing great contrast. I don't remember if I posted in this thread a photo of my MariSOL, so pardon me if I repeat myself:

It's difficult to see in the view from the front, but the stripes are not quite that wide. The wider stripe and the thin stripe have merged together due to inadequate settings on the camera.

I think black, silver, white and red all look great on sly. My personal favorite would probably be 'cool' on 'sly', I.E., the light metallic silver on the windshield surround.

By the way slyfetish, if you'd like to see my stripes from other angles, all my pics are here. emmalinesol's photos and albums on webshots

And the dimensions are 1/4" pinstripe - 1/4" gap - 3" stripe - 1-1/2" gap - 3" stripe - 1/4" gap - 1/4" pinstripe for a total of 8-1/2".

AztekzRpurty:

I reviewed your pictures and noticed a Black Solstice with a different front nose assembly on the car. Do you have any close up's of that cars front end? It looked very nice in your pictures and I would like to see some close-up's. If you do not have any, is the car owner a Forum member? Perhaps he would be willing to share some photo's of his car? Thanks and have a good day.

I'm pretty sure that was bowhunter, who wound up selling that car, which was a solstice pre-production mule that somehow escaped the crusher. The frontend was an RKsport, whom I believe is a vendor here.

Asking for your opinion on this stripe prototype

Hello,

For those that don't have the photoshop skills to see what stripe patterns will look good with your solstice, I have found a great/easy way to do it.
1. Buy a scale model of the solstice.
2. Use electrical tape and an exacto blade with ruler. various colours of electrical tape can be used.

Here are the results:

Please let me know what you think about the placement of the stripes OK?

Please don't criticize the quality of the sticker work, but instead the positioning and thickness of the stripes.
