Supersize me trunk please

I had enough of the tiny slot of a trunk. I wanted to take the Sky out for a weekend trip and it was annoying that I couldnt even fit a carry on bag in the trunk. Anyhow, thats where our trunk mod comes in. We were able to add nearly another 1.5 cubic feet of storage in the rear. Most standard or smaller carry on luggage/bags should be able to fit in the back now. The trunk is only available with the GT exhaust however.

I'm just glad I can put some stuff in there now other than a small jacket and a few shirts.

Nice...but taking a blade to her just makes me cringe but something does need to be done. I was looking at mine last night and I think a lot of us have been looking in the wrong place. The floor. Especially in regards to the exhaust issue. On mine (with the 3" Magnaflow cat back set up) there is about 4 and a half inches between the muffler and the floor pan so a 2-3" drop of the same section with a heat shiled cover under leving about a 1.5" gap is a possability but not a huge difference.

The lower floor section of the trunk is large enough for a small carry on (flight attendant size) bag. The problem is that it will start in at an angle but will not make the turn between the fuel and top support hill. I think what needs to be readjusted is the curved upper section where the lid hinges and harness tube are. The curve could be longer or even squared off between the hinges and there is plenty of room (in what I call the rain bucket) to make it more shallow giving the extra turn room for the bags. IMHO.

I think with the later or both of these adjustments a bag of this size would drop right in.

Nice job. This would also work on any GXP with SOLO'S Race or Street Race exhaust system. We also have a rear center dual kit for the NA solstice and this trunk ( possibly a few inches shorter ) would work with our NA exhaust kit also. Great work on the trunk there should be a lot of interest in this.

Sweet. Just as I thought. Looking at the pictures of your exhaust, there is a bit of room saved. Got any pictures?

Here are some new pics.

I've got their race system on my car, here's an under pic form when it was on the dyno. I thought I had gotten a center pic but apparently not.

Looks like you should be able to fit the larger trunk in there.

Neat Idea. I wish I waited for my cat back. But I didn't I dont think you will have any problems selling this.

I thought about that but there are too many factors that would make decreasing the size of the tank a problem. Liability with messing with the tank is just the beginning. Shorter driving range is a problem also. When the top is down, the trunk being decreased by even 50% wont give you any significant advantages. When the top is compressed and you close the rear lid, you would most likely crush whatever you were storing there.

The bag is 19"x12"x11". You would also be able to fit most standard carry ons. We are working on an even larger version of the trunk conversion. It requires the modification of the rear lid brackets so it would be a more costly conversion. It would give you an extra 2 inches on the width so you can put a full size carry-on in. I cant fit anything behind the seats. My wife and I are both on the tall side so thats not an option.
