I think we should write a petition about how bad the tires are on this car and make them recall them. Seriously the tires IMO are dangerous. Worst rain tire I have driven on in years. Wears down fast, doesn't work in rain or snow, how is it a all season tire? The falken azenis perform better all around.

Hmmm ... don't think that will happen ... I've driven on TWO sets of RSAs now and not had ANY problems in Rain or SNOW ...

But ... THIS is not the place to argue about the tires .... take it to another thread.


Tire options should be considered for those who live in different climates - especially now that there are many available now.

Does anybody here know how to drive?

I had no problems with the RSA tires in heavy rain and hail while driving with 430 hp and no TC or ESC. I hadn't driven the car in 2 months, the last time I had there was only 177hp, and all my other cars have far superior dry AND wet tires.

They aren't my first choice of tire, but they aren't the death traps that people here seem to think they are.

I can agree with you on the tires, GM really cheaped out on that one. My car always wanted to hydroplane in the rain and dry traction wasn't its thing either. However at least the good news is all those things can be swapped out for a relatively low price. Besides with you did have the Opel GT tires all of us here on these forums would probably swap them out for something else anyway. Now if GM decided to raise the boost and make the car push more then 300 hp or gave the car a GMPP suspension upgrade; well then I would be a little irritated.

I think the RSA's get a bad wrap for several reasons, including under/over inflation, modifications to car, and driver inexperience or error. I'm not trying to portray these as great all-weather tires, which they are not. They are fair in wet and dry conditions and I've posted on this in the past, including driving for some time in a tropical storm/heavy rain and wind last year. Chance of a recall is zero.

I agree 100%. I think more people need to spend more time learning their care, paying attention to tire wear and inflation, and understanding RWD driving habits. The RS-A is kinda crappy compared to all the other way better choices there could have been, but it's really not that bad of a tire.

It's a standard, stock, OEM tire. Like most OEM parts on the car, it can be replace by a third party product, usually of better quality.

Seems like all of the people who like the RSA's have never driven their car over the speed limit EVER. Anybody who drives their Sol hard has already replaced these incredibly weak and dangerous tires as they are life threatening. I agree with turboman88 100%. They should've been recalled with the differential. Moms, I can't BELIEVE that you actually bought another set when there are tons of cheaper tires out there that would perform twice as well. Good luck with that...Stay out of the rain...

Wrong! My car has been on a 1/2 mile High banked track at speeds greater than most. And the Racer that lead took one of the Solstices on RSA's out and pushed it beyond 100 mph ... said if it would have been HIS car, had a rollbar, and he'd had his helmet and suit on .... he felt it could have gone MUCH faster.

Also, I drive my car HARD ... pushed thru the twisties - you can ask anyone who has ever followed me.

BTW .... by second set was from Phoenix Racing and was a deal that could not be beat for tires that only had 30 miles on them.

Oh ... and with regard to the rain ......... NO Problems! Even in the Snow. Now ... next set I may consider better less expensive. But, I see nothing wrong with these All Seasons. Would like to see the factory option for those who would like to choose the TYPE of tire.

Put 46k miles on my original RSAs, and yes, it's been way over the limit, hell the last run on the old tires was T2TR, last summer, with about 44k miles on them, in the aggressive group, hitting it hard for hours on end.

Triple digits, many times.

Rain? Never a problem. Snow? Yea, once again, never had any issues with all snow depths up here in WI over TWO winters. And yes, it's driven every bloody day, 365 days a year.

Don't question these woman. They were in the aggressive T2TR group last year and they are some of the best drivers I know. These tires do hold their own on dry ground and yes they have their limits as do any tire. I trust my Re01R's much more but the RSAs didn't do as bad as some expect them to.

No chance for recall!!

I drove my Classic car hard all the time too and all I ever had was RS-As on it as well. I also did probably 5~7 autocross events on RS-As as well. Yeah they might have not netted me the best times, but I never once lost traction or spun out.

I don't know if you saw the thread full of pics from my drive home to California from Mallett... Maybe you should look at the picture of my GPS, or the pictures of my car out on the salt at Bonneville.

380whp/380tq. No TC, no ESC. Paved roads, salt plains, rain, hail and even a little dirt.
~2500 miles with no problems with the tires, beyond an inability to hook up at the dragstrip.

2500 miles, and 10 states worth of basically driving a BRAND NEW CAR. I think it's fair to say it was the first time I ever drove it, seeing as I hadn't seen the car for 2 months, hardly drove it before I shipped it out (<2k miles over 2 months), and went from 177 to 430hp.

All on roads I was unfamilliar with, and PS, that max speed on the GPS? Top down.

The only times I was under the speed limit on that trip was when I was driving in work zones.

I'll be getting something different when these wear out; but that's because, just like almost every OEM tire, there are better options available for people who don't care about anything but dry performance, and I want something significantly wider.

The appropriate replies to this have already been made, but I had to add mine anyway.

Rash generalizations are pretty much always a bad idea.
