Since last fall when the Solstice first came out and we all wondered how we would transport "stuff", allot of us thought a trailer was the answer. Many posted info from the sources we had, one source said the towing capacity of the solstice was going to be 1000 lbs. Later,in the owners manual, we saw "not for towing a trailer". I asked MY dealer what I could do; could I use a motorcycle trailer as a cargo hauler; showed him the one from the company listed on my signature. After getting his OK, i contacted the company. It seems that PAO and gwilks had already done the footwork for me. On June 3 the owner Jim installed and wired this hitch for my coming trailer.
Here are the PIC's of the Hitch installed. I'm sorry i couldn't get Pic's while it was installed, I was having Spinal surgery.
My wife was willing to crawl under the car to get these Pic's, since I'm not allowed to do this kind of activity yet.

When I get the trailer I will thread & post PIC's and I will be bringing it to the National in KC.
Please, lets keep this civil, no rants about a trailer and warranty stuff like the last time i mentioned my Modifications.

Rather than a small trailor, I was thinking of something along this lines (albeit a bit smaller):-

A duplicate license plate could be attached to the carrier box

You could fabricate a bracket to fit into the hitch to hold something along these lines as well:-

Hangs down kinda low. I was thinking you would only be able to see the center portion and not the whole width of the unit.

ESB - I agree.... I have seen some hitch installations where you only see the "coupling" part , and not the whole "bar".

Wonder if this is because of the design of the car - or the layout of the undrneath ? Or is it the style of hitch selected??

based on the mounting location....this will never be that "hidden hitch" installation...remember this hitch was a custom fabrication as well....

the company that is building the custom trailer I beleive outsourced the hitch work to one of known custom crafters for the work....so Im sure all that was taken into consideration.....I looked into this back in June of 05...with the same company...I couldnt afford the price....but passed the info along

Hitch $495, included wiring. Trailer total cost about $4k.

Yep, only us retired School teachers with the desire to take a Solstice to Meets and on Vacation would spend that kind of money on a trailer.

Besides, we like to buy the wines we taste when we tour!

You can purchase a receiver (the part that fits in the hitch) that has different angles of adding hieght to allow the trailer to sit more level.

If you have the time or a friend who does this seems to be the way to go on the trailer.
