Turn signal all of a sudden clicks faster.. why?

Ok this actually happened a while ago before I sold the car but the topic had just come back up with me and some friends and I couldnt figure it out. When I signal for a left turn the signal or clicker or whatever it is inside the car that lets you know your turn signal is on, it all of a sudden "clicked at a much faster rate then normal. The right turn signal still does it at the normal rate. Anyone know why this change happened?

Thats interesting. Especially since at the time it happened the tail light bulb was out. After replacing I think it was right turns all the way home so I didnt notice it again lol.

A burnt out bulb causes a drop in the resistance in the circuit, so all the lamps on that relay cycle faster.

If you install LED bulbs into your car, that will also cause it to click faster. Plus if the dealer checks the BCM (body control module), it'll report a burned bulb.

'tis a burned out bulb. I had this and got it fixed when they did my recall...no more worries.

If the bulbs are in parallel, wouldn't a burnt out bulb increase the resistance?

series Rt = R1 + R2 + R3

parallel 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3
