Hah, man, you guys are crazy, I can't believe you're still replying to this thread.

Since a lot of people are confused, I'll just recap everything.

1 - I hate New GM because the government has no business involving itself in the private sector (in terms of BUYING companies). Everything the auto task force said it wouldn't do, it's done (bought the company, converted it's shares to voting shares, voted in every member of the board of directors, etc...).

2 - I traded in my Solstice when I bought my Ford Explorer. My political statement was that I was NOT buying a GM car even though I had 8 grand in incentives and GM card money. The political statement was NOT that I was selling my Solstice.

3 - I miss my Solstice, but am relieved that I no longer have it. After the convertible top leak, it put a rather bad taste in my mouth. I expect that from something like my old Porsche 944 that was already 20+ years old, but on a brand new car that you've only had since December of 2005... that's a different story.

4 - I'm NEVER, EVER selling my Fiero. It was my first car, and is worth more to me than 50 Solstices (although I wouldn't mind having a hard-top Solstice).

5 - GM cancelled the Pontiac brand, which was really the only division I had any real interest in. So much interest of course that I named my website "Pontiac Performance". Pontiac Performance . NET . Cadillac has some OK cars, but their quality is absolutely garbage lately. They've "de-contented" their cars so heavily. The fact that I don't have a button to release the fuel door is ridiculous. Obviously, I'm capable of lifting a flap, but if if that's standard fare on any Lexus, why can't Cadillac have it too? When I compare the old beat up 78 Eldorado that I cut the roof off of a few years back, to new Cadillacs... I can see, even today, that back then... they put more effort into the small details. The new Caddys are just plain garbage. Buick... no real interest there either. Chevy...? What... who wants a cookie cutter? Sorry...

6 - I'll get another Solstice one day, when I'm finished with school and I don't have any kids younger than 10.

I don't hate you guys (any one of you), but I will never ever buy another 2009+ GM car every again, so long as it's owned (in any part) by the US government.

Thanks...

Well, technically of course, it's the e-mail I get saying someone has responded to my post. But also, because I like talking about cars.

Soccer moms might like to drive explorers too, but I bought mine so that I can work on my house, buy landscaping stuff, plants, etc for my yard and backyard, and be able to take my vehicle off-road to my property in Lake Okeechobee to improve upon that as well. I do really enjoy driving it and it's very comfortable, but it's not something I really care about. I still park in "one dingers" (means you park at the end of the parking lot so only one side is exposed to door dings), but I certainly don't treat it like I did my Solstice. My Solstice I would park waaay out there. When I traded it in, it didn't have so much as a rock chip or scratch in the paint. Not even the slightest door ding. Unfortunately, I'm sure the next owner probabyl won't care for it like I have... but I the Explorer meets all my needs, and I don't want to get rid of my VW Bus, or my Pontiac Fiero. I also don't want to get rid of my Crown Victoria because it was my grandfather's and I love that car.

It was cool driving my daughter home in her great grandfather's 2002 Ford Crown Victoria LX (only has like 30k miles on it).

Anyway, I know none of us can ever expect the Solstice to come back. Once a model is done, it's done... if it ever comes back, it'll be in name only. (I went through this on the Fiero message board for the past 14 years I've owned a Fiero). I heard people say... "Maybe the Chinese will buy the manufacturing and build their own Fieros..." that lasted quite some time until they demolished the factory a few years ago in Pontiac, MI.

What I would hope to get out of it of course is that people dislike General Motors for what they've done, and the government realizes that their more of a hinderance than a positive force, and they decide to sell the company back to private investors who then make it a publically traded company again.

That's my wish...
