i know the coupe is scheduled as an 09, but i dont see any cosmetic changes, what do you think, and when do you think, they will do those "tweaks" car companies tend to do every 3-5 years? Usually its something like reshaping the headlights and bumper a little.. just to give it a newer look.. i just can't imagine what they would do!

Maybe they'll flatten out the gas tank and give us some more trunk space. Or better yet... Hydrogen Fuel Cell or electric!

I can imagine. I was hoping the SD-290 front end would make it onto the production 2009 GXPs. t would at least let you tell a 2009 from a 2006.
I'm getting to be an old fart and am just BARELY old enough to remember an era when car manufactuers changed something every single year to distinguish each new year's models from the year before. For example, the rear fenders on the '55, '56, '57s Chevys. Same basic car, but the tail fins on those beautiful '57s would never let you confuse those cars with the '55s.
It is just too expensive today.

i didnt know that bout the older chevy's.. thats cool that theydid little stuff every year, i used to have a 2001 eclipse, you could tell the 03's or newer by a more rounded front bumper and grey(vs red) taillights.. that little stuff makes a big difference tho!!

I know the feeling. Cadillac used to change the taillights if nothing else. Come to think of it, I don't remember any automaker leaving everything the same from one year to another back in the day.

If the Solstice is based on the classic roadsters of yesteryear, look back at the MGB. Same body shell from 1962 to 1980. The only major change was to go from chrome bumpers to rubber during the '74 model year. Keeping it the same helps the older ones hold their value, imho.

Headlights in 09 will be changed to have a black bezzel instead of chrome
And they will need to may 1,000's of extras as tons of people buy them up to swap out for teh stock jobs (too bad they can't put the HID projectors in the darn things)

Umm jimbo .... If you can't tell the difference between a 06 and 07 then YOU have not been paying attention. As long as the DRLs are on ... there is a BIG difference that is quite noticeable. Now ... yes it is a very subtle difference BUT it is a difference nonetheless.
Another would be COLOR .... the MEAN was not available on the '06 MY ... as the well as the two new colors for '09 ... the NEW Deep and the MERLOT.
Maybe we should start a FAQ with each MY listing color and options so tracking of changes would be easier and as we progress through the years it would be a reference point.

Good point. I am still not convinced that the Kappas will ever be considered collectible classics, but if they do, an owner's registry and a record of model year specifics are two of the key documents that will be needed. The group that maintains and possesses that information will be the premier owners' group. Look at all the ruckus going on now between Carroll Shelby and the Shelby Owners' Group.
