I just got off the phone with TMP-Cayuga, and they are having an open car lapping day with this nice weather. They will reduce the price to $100 and you can go lapping until 5pm. You will never find the track this empty.
I am leaving right now, so if you want to join me, it would be nice to see another SOL. I just need to go to Crappy Tire and get a $50 helmet that is on sale.
Here is the address for the TRACK:
Toronto Motorsports Park
1040 Kohler Road ,
Cayuga, Ontario, Canada
N0A 1E0,
Although it is macho to turn off granny controls, at the track I needed the competition mode. Life at 170km per hour and 120km/h on sharp turns is a different game.
Best part about the day was I had the entire track to myself.

I have tried in vain to convince local Kappa drivers to come out for a spin. Maybe your videos will inspire.
I have to say that my time on the track is most enjoyable.
I believe the kappa car to be capabale of a decent run at the track without testing the limits of the machine and driver. I have found that things get a little hot on extended hard runs.
I hope to be there some time again. I'll be sure to call out
It seems on this track the average joe can make a time of 1min 30 secs per lap. I am hoping to do 1min 20 secs next time around. I just need the confidence to go full throttle all the time. Craig Lewis, What were your times at Cayuga?
This Sunday is another lapping session at Shannonville from 1-5pm, wanna join me? It's east of Scarborough I think.
I just changed my oil again and air filter, do I'm kind of pumped to punish the Solstice some more. This time I hope to have a dedicated camera video taping the speed and RPS. as well as boost. Then I will merge the videos in a "picture in picture" style display using Adobe Premiere.
What do you say? Also, anyone else interested in going to Shannonville on Sunday?

That is a really decent time for that track at 1min 30secs. I have a few buddy's who do time attack there during the cscs event. With the wet roads the last time they raced in street tires was 1min 29secs for the winner.
I think the course record is 1min 17secs. " I might be wrong"

Whoops, Shannonville was WAYYY east of scarborough, like 1.5 hours east. I woke up too late. I will be doing the Nov. 1st event as Shannonville is just too far.
I wouldn't waste your time with Shannonville. Not unless your tuning or just getting on the track for the first time as it's pretty much two dimensional with no character. But it is a safe track and always love going to Canada.
If you can, Mont Tremblant or Mosport would be worth a night's stay.

I was driving by the track, so I went in to say hello.
There were at least 6 s2000, but no Kappa's to shame them. Otherside, it was a great car watching day. A few hot rx7's. Several fire belching eo's and sti's. Skylines and 240's, silent 996's and 944 cup cars tracking without drama.. Of course there was a GTR and a crazy driver in a civic.. All in all, there are far too many rich children in this world!
I'd have to say that it was not a good day for a rookie driver. The track was packed. The few slower drivers were really getting in the way. Aggresive drivers were taking risk. I'm not sure that I would want my car out there. It seems a few believe it was a race day.
Anyway....Callibogie FTW for coolness.
If anyone is deading out that way in the future, the Sunoco at coberge is the first cheap place for gas outside of the GTA fuel scam.
Thanks for the recon. I feel better for not making the 2 hour trip, because I am a track rookie and it seems that the Touge.ca - Touge Motorsports, All about Cars, Track, Drivers, and Motorsports! group is pretty wild. Those young civic drivers and POS drivers have little to lose if they bump or scrape, but if anything happens to my "swirl free" paint job, I would be in depression mode for atleast 2-3 weeks until it got fixed. I used the Track money instead and purchased a G-Tech Pro Performance Meter.
How are you doing buddy? Your driving in the first video was close to your driving during our Oct 4th outing up north (i.e. I saw you almost wipeout in the rain when you turned left onto the highway going up to Orangeville) ha, ha. In the second video, you looked like a pro! It is amazing the improvement in your driving with only 2 hours of training. Thanks for having the courage to show the first video with the 4 events, especially the one when you spun completely 180 degrees and was facing straight backwards. It was really entertaining. It also shows how important it is to now racing techniques and practices. I bet you will enjoy the track even more now. You have a pretty fast car and I would say the guy tuning it for you really knows what he is doing. How many kPa of boost are you getting?
Also, keep up the good work with that video camera of yours. How did you mount it?
Take care man,
Rick

That one-on-one driving course I took totally changed my attitude in driving. I used to be those guys that just respected power and straight line driving, so I am slowly evolving to more of a "lap time" mentality, where timing, form and technique are the virtues to aspire to. My first time on the track was just so hilarious, that I just had to show it off. I had all the traction controls off, and learned a good humbling lesson. You were right, at our last group run I lost control numerous times, but I always do that in the rain, and somehow always recover. Thank GOD for Life Insurance eh? : )
as for the car, it's a 2007 GXP with Auto Tranny, SOLO SR Exhaust and SOLO High Flow CAT, tuned and retuned 3 times aggressively by CarbonSky, and yesterday using this gadget called a G-Tech Pro SS, it claimed I do 0-60 in 4.44 secs, and the 1/4 Mile in 12.99 secs. It's probably wrong but it did make me smile when I repeated the results. I have to find some place to weigh the car with me in it with a full tank of gas, so I can set the parameters on this device to be more accurate cuz I don't think with my small mods and a tune it would run this fast. But there's always hoping right?
There is another lapping event this coming Sunday from 1-5 at Mosport DDT Track. Are you a lapper? I have new respect for Manual Drivers, because I am already sooo busy maintaining "tight" lines using both hands on the steering wheel and bracing myself with my left foot on the "dead pedal" that I couldn't even conceive of adding another element of shifting to the equation.
