Hi NavyKnight,

13.145 sec. at 104.35 MPH in the 1/4 mile is pretty impressive and it looks like your G-Tech Pro SS was pretty close based on the numbers you released earlier.

I know you have a fast car and when my warranty has expired, I will be getting Carbon Sky to tune my car if he is willing. I already have the GMPP map sensors that are good for higher pressures. With my SOLO high flow CAT and mach shorty exhaust, I should be fairly close to you in HP and Torque. I had hoped to go with you today but had too much on my plate, darn.

Take care,

Rick

I have not looked at the vid I took of your car. It was only on my PHD(press here dummy) camera. 4mp stills, so the quality will certainly be iffy.

If we don't recodnise the track screw up, I would have got the fast time for the day

I'm pretty sure with a little effort, I can better my times.

As bad as you said your launches were, I believe my 60ft times were consistently .2 or off yours.

I need to run with far less fuel. I believe this will really help my ability to get off the line hard without hop.

I do have a slight boost leak. Not enough of one to throw a code, but it sure makes a funny sound. I have noticed that I peak at 130, where I was getting 145 before. I assumed that with the learndown irrelevant with my tune, that cold weather performance would increase. Even if it doesn't effect my performance, it will improve my pride.

I have random cases of knock at around 4000rpm. It happened on the way to the track, but after a few blast on the highway, it seemed to pass. I have heard of the issue with O7's, but running 94, it only happens time and again. I hear the hotter plugs from the o8's make a difference.

I would like to try adjusting my tire pressures. I struggle with launches. I am spinning well into second. Even running behind a quick car that left a nice patch af rubber for me to sick too. These tires are out of thier element for sure, but I still think that I am not utilizing them to thier potential. High profile tires would surely dampen the wheel hop although I'm sure our independant rearend will never be a star at the drag strip. I bet a set of floppy slicks would give us killer launches with better relative driveline security.

I considered HP tuners. At the time, they had not opened enough tables to convince me do grab a new laptop and the software. I wish I at least had HPT scanner to see more of what is going on. I believe that GMPP may have been gentle in 3rd and 4rth gear. It could be that my computer thinks my cat is cooking. Surely a custom tune would have the advantage if this was the case.

I don't think this can be a definitive custom tune VS GMPP comparison. I am convinced the addition of a HF cat will wake my car up...more

I did get my ass handed to me. Repeatedly......argh.

Happy to line up another day.

I didn't mean to make it a competition, I'm certainly not one to compete against as I didn't know what the hell I was doing and be completely lost if you didn't "hold my hand" the whole time. You even had to show me where to ge the car inspected. I thank you for all that. I think the difference in our cars was a combination of too many factors, such as all your tech issues. If you need a tune, do you know who Carbon Sky is? He's slowly becoming a local legend. I also think it would be fun to get the $500 HP Tuners device. I may spring for that as soon as the Christmas bills are over.

Hey TopDown,

You live in Burlington!!!! that's like 15mins away from the track! Think of your Priorities:

1. Solstice
2. Woman
3. Kids
4. Career
5. House

In that order OK? : ) Let's try again next Sunday? I hope it's sunny and dry.

I was happy to introduce you to the track. In retrospect, I felt I might have rushed through the details with no service to you. You can thank me for getting a tech inspection for your car. That place in notorious for ignoring latecomers. Argh!

I suppose I am sounding like a sore loser. That isn't my intent. Although, I have a habit of wanting to be the best at everything. A sure way to disapoint.

I was curious to see the differences in performance. MBRP developed a HF cat on my car, but I have not put one on. Partially due to my interest in keeping some GM assurance of service. I would love to make it out next week without this cat/banana stuck in my exhaust.

If I can configure my car to be ready to run 12's with relative ease, I might just keep it. Looks like it will actaully be pretty easy. If KN keeps hittin the track, we will know for sure that his optimised tune doesn't compromise reliability.

I have noticed that Sosltice drivers rarely show at the track. I hope more turn out in the future. Being a car junkie, I get a hit off every automotive event that I attend. Even if I only spectate.

Don't think I can make it next week. Would love to.

Hi Craig,

When you get a chance, would you mind posting the video you took of one of my runs from the stands on You Tube?

Or would you like to upload it to the SSOOO user account on Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

I'll work on that. I only took one. You were beside the 15s red neon.

I can't find the setting on my camera to record in MPG. It will have to be in quicktime.

Anybody go to the track today? I went and the crappy weather (for drag racing) only got me a 13.339. I am never going back to 1/4 Mile when the temp is above 10 degrees C.

LOL. You won't be doing much drag racing then.

Might be time for an intercooler.

Did you try letting some air out of the tires?

I have found that the warmer temps allow for better launches. A warmer day might just reward you.

What other details? MPH...60ft?...Were you consistent?

I went for a pleasant Sunday drive with the wife. I didn'tdare take her to another car venue

Now that I am reminded, I'll deal with that vid.
