2009 Coupe pricing released Janaury 15, 2009.
The pricing is now available to dealerships for the 2009 Coupes.
2009 Solstice Coupe has a MSRP of $26,845, which includes Destination Charges of $620.
2009 Solstice Coupe GXP MSRP is $30,995, also including Destination Charges.
As posted earlier this week, the Stowable Soft Top Package (includes the Soft Top and the Hard Top Storage Bag). will have a MSRP of $1,180. As a LPO, it can be ordered at the time the Coupe order is placed, and it will be listed on the Window Sticker. It will be shipped seperately to the dealership and the dealership will place the package in the car at the time of delivery. By doing it this way, it is easier to include in any financing or leasing the buyer may be using.

Wait wait wait... I thought the Coupe was supposed to be cheaper not MORE expensive. Lutz, why did you let your underlings make your words a lie to us?

It SHOULD be cheaper. Has to be less expensive to stick on a hardtop and toilet seat window than to install our extremely complex convert mechanisms. GM still seems clueless as to the state of the auto industry these days. Do something to ATTRACT customers. Quit trying to trick them.

I would have thought so too, roadsters usually are more expensive. Also the soft top does not come with it? You need to pay over a grand for it?

It does look pricier than I had expected too... but I am thinking I remember from somewhere that more stuff was going to be standard too. I'd have to do a comparision between the two to be certain.
However, it would have been nice for them to offer the coupe's with less standard features to drop the prices too. Topping $30K for a coupe GXP may look a bit pricey for some when compared with competitors like the 370Z, which Nissan has been advertising starts just under $30K.

Which SD pointed out in another thread it isn't all that expensive when compared to similar options such as getting both tops for the Elise.
However, considering the market for the car, and the fact that the hard top won't stow in the car, I was hoping for a somewhat cheaper soft top. After all, it's main intent is to be carried for emergency purposes and not necessarily a top to be used all the time.
If someone wanted a soft top all the time, then they could get the roadster.

Just thinking about it for a sec, with the price of everything and the soft top pricing and being sold seperately and the fact that you can't store the hard top just seems like too much for me. I was eyeing it out but now I have determined it just does not fit for me. Maybe for others those in better climates.

Ok, I take that back, looks like roadster and coupe have the same level of standard equipment, with the only differences being in the unique differences of the two cars.
The coupe has managed to end up being MORE than the roadster.
Well, the gurus at GM are just trading on the demand for the coupe being higher than for the roadster . . . .
When the demand for the coupe drops, and a model year rolls around, they'll increase the roadster prices while keeping the coupe pricing the same, until the coupe pricing and the roadster pricing achieves a bit more equity.
Shuckers, they priced it high enough that I have to seriously consider whether or not to keep my order in for the coupe.

They might be trying to cash in on demand, but I am not so sure. There is some demand and orders, but nothing like what happened in the spring and summer of 2005 with the roadster. Not by a long shot. Plus, in this down market, there has to be serious question on how many of these will actually move, since the demand for most descretionary purchases have hit rock bottom, and include all sports cars.
My other major concern here is competition. Especially the 350Z which is a good looking, great performing coupe in it's own right, and is priced starting below the GXP. It offers, arguably, a higher quality cabin, certainly more room and storage room, more HP, a V6 (how many "I wish it had a V6" threads do we see), and a lower entry price. Probably more standard equipment at that price too (AC as an extra cost option on a $31K car is going to be a negative to some buyers, and a positive only to those looking to save weight).
For instance, if you start adding options, AC, the premium package, a couple others to the base GXP, you can hit $33K MSRP fast, and top it out loaded well over $36K (with a slushbox and the soft top).

The 370Z is goig to take a lot of sales away from the coupe.
Although that Cat Fish front end of the 370Z is absolutly hedious.
The price is way to high for this car. You are better off buying a convertible and then purchasing the hartop from our Supporting Vendor Smoothline.
