So are you going to finally buy one, Jimbo?

And yes, it is nice to see GM finally able to turn out products that induce passionate responses with a fair degree of regularity.

Ahhh!!!! It's got a roof!!! No thanks. Although I have always loved targa tops. About time you see that on an American car. The Honda Del Sol was the last affordable targa I can remember. We'll see how it does. (I'm still in love with the drop top though).

I hope someone comes out with a carbon trunk replacement that looks just like that for the convertible cars, because the one thing I don't like about my Solstice is that it is a convertible.

From what I was told last year at the Boxwood plant. They are only anticipating the productions of the sols to 2011- 2012.

How could GM keep this car under wraps? No spy shots? This car had to be driving around somewhere. Kudo's for GM for doing so well at actually surprising us with such a wonderful looking car!

The rumor is they'll move production to Bowling Green, KY to be built on low volume line with Vettes.
Production Moving to Bowling Green, Ky.? [Rumor]

I keep getting the feeling that instead of a D-shaped rear window with the gently curved sides and base, they should have made it more angular. But still, it would have been an easier sell with a recessed grill, semi-auto transmission, adjustable pedals, and removal of the side chicklets.
The bottom of the D-shaped rear window should look more like the top of the windshield, and those chicklets were gone the day after I took delivery.

Looks like I'll be keeping my Vert, it's just not tempting enough.

I believe this will bring more folks to the Solstice line. Anyone who has had a Jeep soft top may have learned how dumb thief’s can be (they sometimes slash the top instead of trying the unlocked doors). Having a fastback style may lead some folks to believe it’s structurally safer, is more secure, better suited to colder climates, or simply fits their lifestyle needs better. I think there are more positives than negatives, and GM is banking on that to make more money.
Nope it doesn’t provide the same feeling, or look that the convertible does, but then I don’t think this design is suppose to. Sooner or later someone will offer a tinted glass or Plexiglas removable top (maybe that folds in half and fits in the back). I think GMs done a good job here, and folks who wouldn’t have considered it may do it now. Kudos’ to GM. Now get rid of those darn Damn Edna headlamps…

I am wondering about the aero profile differances between the vert and the coupe. It would be better with coupe solid panel in. But what about with the panel out open air with the coupe vs vert topless? Does the rear section of the coupe with its roof section off grab air like a scoop and present drag or does the air just cruise straight over the roof gap? And then windows down vs up? And then the influence of the sloping fastback vs our relatively flat trunk with humps. Just wondering...

Hopefully they have tested it well. (It may have or need them there little flip-up deflector thingys) The only real question is will your hat still blow off at highway+ speeds?

The interior will act like a parachute with the targa top off. Same with the t-tops on F-Body's and targa tops on Vette's.

Here's what I've noticed on different import forums.

VWVortex loves it.
Miata forum has mixed reviews, but are praising GM for making a coupe and wish Mazda would step up their game with the Miata.
350Z has mixed reviews.
RX8 hates it.
S2000 has mixed reviews, but a lot are praising GM for making a coupe and wish Honda would do the same.

Looks like GM calculated correctly that many more conquest sales are definitely possible with the coupe.
