No storage issue, would look great all the time. I don't know if headroom would be drastically compromised though..it may just have to be a opening sunroof...open air.
A moonroof would eat up about two inches of headroom, a sunroof would be about the same. Of course the real problem is that the roof is so small there's no place to tuck the panel after it opens up - the slope to the rear is fairly steep so you'd either need to elevate the panel up and over the top (which would goof up the look) or thicken the roof itself, shorten the rear window, and have it tuck it inside the roof. The targa is simple and doesn't chew up much headroom, nor development resource.
For guys like me who basically can't buy more than one or two sports cars and a half-dozen sedans, that's a very good thing. And yes, 37.4" is too little for me, so a ragtop it must be. Still, the point remains that car companies need to pay attention to us. Don't worry about the folks who are too wide, they have options, pay attention to those of us who are too long.
"The Gran Sport is a styling stunner, oozing style and class with it's beautiful pilarless construction, Velite styling, and T-Top roof. "
There's no mid support in that image-so how did they do that???
Come on GM, ifn' you can do if for a Beeuuuuwick.........
Your not the only one who thought the same thing. I was scratching my head for a while. If you do a search on google it seems like this car might make production. I find it funny the two are almost similar.

Sorry to burst your burble, but there is no Buick Grand Sport. That is a photoshop by some guy on GMI of a Buick Riviera backlight on the Buick Velite concept car. GM did the Velite. GM has nothing to do with adding the Riviera backlight.
I LOVE the looks of the Velite back end on that photoshop, but you will never see it on a Buick... Too bad, so sad... I would love to see them on the open road!!!!
Photoshop
Actual Velite concept

I don't like convertibles. I don't want the extra maintenance of keeping the top clean, the reduced trunk space, and the difficulty in getting the car onto the track because it doesn't have a fixed roof. Have to put the top up every time you park because people use it as a trash can, or it could rain. Thieves and vandals CUT HOLES IN YOUR ROOF rather than smash windows like civilized folk.
I really like the Solstice's style, and if my other "fun" car hadn't been rear-ended, I would have successfully waited for the coupe/targa. Instead, I just ordered the damn car. I was hoping the fixed roof wasn't coming as soon as it did.
My idea of "fun" includes track days and the drag strip and the fact that the Solstice is a convertible is throwing a wrench in that, because there's no roll bar available for it. Not exactly a fun day at the strip to line up for the first run and get kicked out when I reach the timing booth because I ran too fast to be out there without a roll bar.
How could GM keep this car under wraps? No spy shots? This car had to be driving around somewhere. Kudo's for GM for doing so well at actually surprising us with such a wonderful looking car!

It would be very cool indeed. I was stoked to see it originally and immensely disappointed that it was just one guy's styling exercise. Boo hoo. It would have to be RWD for me to consider it, but if it were, it would definitely be on my short list for a daily driver.

You want a Solstice for drag racing?? I love my wifes GXP but one thing a Solstice is not and that is Drag car, unless you have never owned a semi quick car before, a mid/high 13 - low 14 second run on the drag strip is
I know there are some heavily modded Solstices running whatever out there, that's cool, but for the other 99% of them, stay home and don't clog the staging lanes for the real drag cars.
Oh, I forgot the main reason I was posting. I love the coupe, the look absolutely crushes the Ugly Z3 or 4 coupe thing...

My Solstice is faster than 75% of the cars at any of the local Drag Strip. I beat my friends Mustang GT as well. I see nothing wrong with racing my Solstice there when I can beat what's considered a 'drag car.'
