Overall I love it. It doesn't look like you'll gain too much trunk space nor will it be all that much more practical. And that liftgate doesn't make it look like it would be easy to put anything back there anyways. I was kinda hoping for some talk about a lil more power for these babies. Hopefully that Stage II is coming soon.
But I love the styling. In fact I think it might be a slight improvement over the concept version.
Too bad I can't afford two of the same car......well a ragtop and coupe version. At least not for now.

I think that GM should first address all the problems with the shifter / clutch and the transmission before pushing the HP envelope.
The clunk, the slight resistance/grind from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd under specific conditions, a better gear ratio (or a 6th gear). They can definitely refine what is a good little sports car into a BETTER sports car that is above the competition.
260 BHP is plenty enough for the car, this is not a muscle car, its supposed to be a small roadster that was initially targeted at fresh out of college grads (like me).
have no idea what you are talking about as far as shifting problems, there are the "clunk" I hear is from anyone's car are normal standard transmission sounds, it is a direct energy transfer when the engine engages and there will always be some kind of sound, in addition, there are always synchronization inconsistencies and there is absolutely nothing different about this transmission then any other I have ever driven, I happen to think it's really tight
I am surprised anyone thinks those you mention are issues
I happen to agree, another gear would be nice but certainly not necessary, in fact the added horsepower and torque would make that extra gear less useful not more and really, this drive train will do just fine with 50 more horsepower, just fine
I guess it is all in your point of view. The way I look at the targa coupe is that it would be the same as owning the soft top covertible with an accessory hard top. Install the hard top for the winter driving months. As soon as spring comes, use the fabric top which stows in the rear trunk when you take it off.
I have no plans to buy the coupe, but if I did, I would probably have the hard targa top on the car from November thru March and then store it in the garage and rely on the fabric top April thru October.
If you look closely at this new config...I see no reason why someone could not produce the same thing, same look with the vert. By removing the entire ragtop assembly and the trunk deck lid and replacing it with the same thing modified of course to conform. The only real differance would be a seam running behind both sides from the window back and a very good seal where it fits into the exposed trunk cavity. Not big enough to notice unless you are right next to it. This appears essentially what GM did anyway...except permanent. Actualy at closer examination there is a seam the appears to be the same as our trunk lid all the way around the rear end area to both sides forward ending at the underside of the back windows. By modifying the back windows slightly to allow a slight underwindow frame with gasketing material underneath..the same look but removable top for the vert could be produced.
