My hand is hovering over my phone poised to make a call to my dealer.

Two questions for anyone who may know or suspect:

1. Will the chrome wheels be the only wheel choice? I'm not a fan of chrome.

2. Any possibilitie of a true coupe coming soon? I like the rigidity of a fixed roof.

So it's not two-piece. Didn't really think they would unless they were using a "T" down the middle. But as long as teh optional softtop leaks no more than regular convertible top it should work. Leave the hard shell in place when you know you won't remove it, use teh softone when you think you might open up. Could be another product for smoothline - a two-piece or fold in teh middle fiberglass roof section(with plexi-panel moonroof windows)

#2 No .... The reason behind the removable panel and NOT the Full hardtop Coupe was due to totally having to redesign the car IIRC to meet certain standards.

Don't bother calling your dealer yet ..... won't be available until January 2009

In other words, don't 100% trust this superstructure in a roll-over ?

Not necessarily. They are charging more for a cloth storage bag, a home storage unit, and I'll bet they charge more for the soft top too. That way they keep the advertised price down.

It should be less than the convertible...as most convertible versions of cars are. But, we'll see. This may start the markup craze all over again.

I like it, but not as much as I thot I would. The convert is still the better looking. I would love to see a smaller, non fastback targa top version. One more like the Honda del sol or the old Porsche 914. And keep the trunk like it is. I'll also bet that the softtop does NOT fit in one of the new cubbies, but has to be layed out across the back shelf, just under the glass liftgate.

I think that GM should first address all the problems with the shifter / clutch and the transmission before pushing the HP envelope.

The clunk, the slight resistance/grind from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd under specific conditions, a better gear ratio (or a 6th gear). They can definitely refine what is a good little sports car into a BETTER sports car that is above the competition.

260 BHP is plenty enough for the car, this is not a muscle car, its supposed to be a small roadster that was initially targeted at fresh out of college grads (like me).

It would be safe to assume only 260 HP from the factory.

There is a pending GM Performance upgrade, a Stage 2 kit, which will move power up towards the 300 mark (I forget the exact figure off the top of my head).

They want money wherever they can find it!

Seriously, they announced it back at SEMA I think, with an approximately 6 month timeframe to get it out. I would suspect they would have more info soon.

Love it, but I wonder if the optional soft top is as big of a piece of crap as our convertible tops are?

Overall I love it. It doesn't look like you'll gain too much trunk space nor will it be all that much more practical. And that liftgate doesn't make it look like it would be easy to put anything back there anyways. I was kinda hoping for some talk about a lil more power for these babies. Hopefully that Stage II is coming soon.

But I love the styling. In fact I think it might be a slight improvement over the concept version.

Too bad I can't afford two of the same car......well a ragtop and coupe version. At least not for now.

have no idea what you are talking about as far as shifting problems, there are the "clunk" I hear is from anyone's car are normal standard transmission sounds, it is a direct energy transfer when the engine engages and there will always be some kind of sound, in addition, there are always synchronization inconsistencies and there is absolutely nothing different about this transmission then any other I have ever driven, I happen to think it's really tight

I am surprised anyone thinks those you mention are issues

I happen to agree, another gear would be nice but certainly not necessary, in fact the added horsepower and torque would make that extra gear less useful not more and really, this drive train will do just fine with 50 more horsepower, just fine
