Check it, check it, 611 from PA

[editor's note: for those of you not familiar with the 1990 alternative rock scene, the title is taken from "down" by 311]

So, was fortunate enough to add to my Solstii collection this weekend and brought home coupe #611 from philly.

Many thanks to SD and RandallG for their support during my search.

interesting impressions of the first drive... the shifting is much more direct than my 08 conv. also feels a little tighter.

i love it.

yay solstice!

Jeff

My pleasure, Jeff. Since we're speaking of Small Dealer, I should add a public thanks for his help in locating my Coupe. There are few Coupes coming to California; I doubt I would have gotten one without Small Dealer's help.

You won the race! Actually, you crushed me . The dealer told me Saturday the car is on a train in Illinois. On the other hand, it only shows as 4150 (invoiced), as opposed to 4200 (shipped), in the system.

I can see the pic. Would love to see it in the sun rather than the shade though.

Actually, I would have loved sly to be a metallic... that would have taken it over the top for me.

it is metallic. dark steel gray metallic to be exact.

sorry about the shade. but that was right after a wash and i was tight on time. will take another round soon.

i origianlly wanted my conv to be sly, but the cool one 'felt' better off the line. but now i have a sly too.

OK, then I think it should have been a METALLIC. Like the Nissan Silverstone on the Z (it's a med grey similar to sly). I LOVE that color and Sly was originally my #1 choice, but it didn't pop enough for me. Maybe with would have been good when I lived in SoCal, but here in the PNW I just felt it didn't pop on all those grey days.

So what did I do? I got black...

Hey Randall G.. You and I have been discussing our "waiting problem" in another thread, but, I noticed your comment here about a 4150 code. My dealer has supplied me with an event history sheet and I have several codes listed on it including a 4200, 4300, and the last code 4B00 (Bayed). Can any of our forum help me out and explain what the 4B00 code means? This car vin 447 was to be delivered Jun 18th. Now it's July 3 and nothing yet.

and Jeff congratulations. You have a super looking car, shady spot or not.

Alright! I can now officially say I've seen a Coupe in Sly. Looks great! Though, as pointed out already, a picture in the sun would be even better.

gpc2008: I got the event code definitions from SD's MT locator thread:

"The information listed is: VIN#, Dealership Name, City, State, Interior Color, MSRP (if invoiced) and event code (5000 Inventory, 4300 Received, 4200 Shipped, 4150 Invoiced, 3800 Produced)."

Seems your car should be *at* the dealership, if it has truly reached 4300 (wouldn't "received" refer to the destination dealership?). Maybe Small Dealer can help explain---both this and 4B00.

Speaking of my car, maybe it's a good thing it hasn't arrived yet, considering the fire burning close to the dealership in Temecula:

100-acre brush fire burns near Temecula - 7/02/09 - Los Angeles-Southern California-LA Breaking News, Weather, Traffic, Sports - abc7.com

Kind of hijacking Jeff's thread!!!

Randall... I posted on SD's thread that you mentioned. The 4300 code event description says "intermediate delivery 6/16/2009". I'm holding steadfast. Sounds like your Coupe may come painted Fire Engine Red and equipped with a water bucket.... Here's hoping they put out the fire.

Jeff, I still say your car looks good.... Sun shine or not, you got one to sit in.

Gary

hey you bozos, this thread is supposed to be about you telling me how awesome my car is, not talking about event codes!!!

well, i think it is appropriate that a car named sly is hiding in the shade, ready to strike. but eventually i will bend to popular pressure and take a pic in the sun. the latest picture i have it what appears to be a coupe under a gray fabric cover that says solstice on it!

randall, you werent kidding about no supply in CA. within 150 miles of here, only 3 GXP convertibles and 4 GXP coupes, 2 of which are supposedly sold

LOL!

We demand you take a picture of your Coupe in the SUN...NOW!

Oh, and your car is really, really, really awesome! Wish I had one.

The supply in So. Cal is even more dismal than No. Cal: 3 GXP Coupes on Pontiac's locator last night, one of which (#802/Sly bought by Kev2390) I know is sold. That leaves 2 GXP Coupes in So. Cal...unless the factory makes more.

#802 arrived yesterday at "my" dealer (congrats, Kevin!). This makes sense, as it was in 4200, while my car was only in 4150. The dealer says "any day now" for my car, but I'm not so convinced. Especially when you consider the dealer assured me my Coupe (#827) was on the train with #802. I don't mean to criticize the dealer. For all I know, they're going by the best information available to 'em.
