That's really good to hear. I'm pretty confident that I can fit in the current Solstice.
But the Coupe's headroom drops down to 37.4'' vs 38.5" (so over an inch drop) which may be an issue for me.
I guess there's only one way to find out. I'll have to sit in one and try it out.

I can also testify dealers aren't enthusiasts...my dealer here in WV hadn't even heard of it. He looked at me like I had worms crawling out of my ears. I quickly pointed him to any number of sites that had features about the car so he might not look like a goof to the next person that asks about getting on a list. Anyhow, he assured me I'd be the first one called as soon as it was in their system (again, their only concern/certainty). As I mentioned in another thread, they have a new '07 GXP on the lot and he didn't even attempt to "get me into it". I guess he was the "up" on this visit!

Yeah, that been the case with most of my cars I've purchased. I walk into the showroom knowing 100x more than any of the saleman.
When I purchased my GTO, the saleman didn't know one thing about the car.

The Solstice Coupe is coming out. It's been spotted testing. They announced it officially at the NYIAS, and it's still being tested as we speak, 24/7. As what I've heard because they want to make sure that targa top doesn't leak.

The dealers are never in the know about cars, you will be lucky if the salesman knows at least the information that's in the brochure. Seeing that production isn't slated to begin until Jan of 09 I'm sure the dealerships won't get a heads up until the very end of this year... I know it sucks to have to wait this long, just gotta be patient...

DEALERS ARE STEALERS! Did they offer you a "great deal" on a 2008 instead of waiting for the coupe?

They're full of crap. GM dealerships suck and are one huge reason why everyone hates GM vehicles.

...except for smalldealer

If that's the case, a new Camaro will most likely be my next car.

There might be less headroom in the coupe, but it isn't hurting for headroom either. I am 6' even, and I had many inches between the top of my head to the bottom of the roof panel. Probably 4-6. I also had the seatback fairly upright so I was sitting upright, and not slouching down to fit.

Brentil also did the helmet test on the coupe as well. Maybe he can give his height. The lower roof height seemed to more along the left/right sight lines if I'm correct.

It's true most dealers are not up on the future cars even ones in their own lines (guys like small dealer are the exception ).
You should have seen the strange looks I'd get with dealers back in 2004 and 2005....no the Solstice is not a Toyota I'd tell them

One of the small town dealers I went to this past weekend to find about ordering a 2009 vert. During the visit we were talking and the sales guy actually brought up that they were going to be getting a couple later in the year. I was surprised by the fact that he knew, especially since it was a small "hick" town dealer.

I fit perfectly with a racing helmet on and I'm 5'10" but with a long torso I sit like I'm over 6'.
