Solstice Coupe Review MotorWeek on Speed This Morning

MotorWeek on Speed had a review of the coupe today in the Phoenix area. I just witnessed it. Short review, Their "Car Keys First Impressions" segment no track stats. I guess it should be called "first and last impressions" for this one...how sad.. But I was suprised they reviewed it at all. Good review for the most part. I am actually shocked with why they did it with the end of production and all. They don't do it for free, that is for sure.

We need to find a link to it on the net.

PS...Man one look at that car and knowing it was tanked... "These times they are a changing"

This is most probably the last review of the Pontiac Solstice in any format. That said I think they blew the ending..should have shown it driving off into the sunset...Pontiac...we will miss you...

I am wracking my brain to figure out what my coupe would have 4 of, too. Or rather 8 of, in 2 sets of 4 apparently.

You guys are letting your youth show! Yes, it’s dual four barrel carburetors. My first new car was a 1963 Chevy SS with a 409 CI engine with dual quads. Stock in 1963 with 7” wide tires I ran a 13.04 sec. quarter mile. It was the quickest car I have ever owned. The down side; I was getting about 4 MPG (I had a 5.13 rear end in it).

My Solstice Coupe is the 2nd quickest car. The fastest car on my list was a 65 Corvette; 327 CI with 350 HP, aluminum knock off wheels and side exhaust. This Corvette was the most beautiful and fun to drive car I have owned; but it is quickly being replaced by the Solstice in every aspect except top end speed. The Solstice is addictive!

Uh, no to both. I am not a young guy nor do I have any carbs on my Solstice (nor would I want any).

If I want carbs, carbs I've got, though not dual 4 bbl.

The reference was to Fergy’s signature line.

I guess you missed Jeff’s humor.

In the early 60's 409 and dual quads were synonymous. If someone said they had a 409 you assumed it had dual quads. Jeff’s humor made sense to me.

I think you missed it.

BTW, I know what carburetors look like.

Missed it by a mile! I wasn't letting my youth show (hell, I'm 53). Just didn't catch the drift (happens more often nowadays). I too was trying to figure what the heck might be considered dual quad on a direct injection car. But #409 does have posi-traction (sort of), and fortunately NOT a 4-speed.
