Not to tell my age but I go back in sportscars to the mid 50's when my wife and I had a 100M LeMans Austin Healey and an AC Bristol D II, both roadsters. We competed with these cars in Europe and also drove them in many rally's. In fact when we married, 51 years ago tomorrow, the only car we had was the Healey.
My all time favorite car was the Jag XKE Coupe but never could afford one back then. To me the new Solstice Coupe reminds me a lot of the Jag. Absolutely beautiful. Have arranged with my dealer to trade my 07 GXP for the first GXP Coupe he has available. The coupe will fill my XKE fantasy very nicely.

^ Quite an interesting history and affair with those cars there Chuck!

Yeah I want this car soo bad it's not even funny. I think I've become obsessed with it actually...

I haven't seen one in person and I missed out because I didn't know it would be @ Greenfield Village last weekend, or I would have went to see it.

I gotta wait until like May, June or July next year to get one of these, but as soon as they arrive at the dealers I'm going to see it, and probably go to every Pontiac dealer in the area just to test drive it a few times!

Yeah, they did that with the other MYs too ... they should at least give you the option of choosing them, because there is little (if any) price difference.

BTW, would someone PLEASE (FTLOG) shave the antenna !!!! My wife's ES 330 and my Army ride (2008 Impala) both have windshield antennas and it is a common item today .... PLEASE bring the ride into the 21st century. I guess they know it looks ugly, because they rarely show the car with the RC antenna attached.

Chuck,

I could not agree more, mine is a 1970. I'm just hoping the Solstice coupe will come in light blue

What a beautiful XKE. I truly envy you. Thank you for sharing it.
Yup I will save and print your photo.
As to color...The one color, more than any other, I would love to see for the Solistice Coupe is the BRG. British Racing Green.

Now is the time, if you really want one. Prices for one that is road ready are probably what a Solstice Coupe will be going for, but they are rising. May not be a concours, mine isn't, but its what happens when you step on the gas that matters. It seems the coupe has been 'discovered' by collectors, Brit's are paying big bucks for them. But I prefer driving mine, thats what it was made for.

Sorry for the OT discussion

What off topic discussion? The topic is "drooling" and I think the XKE is worthy of a little drool.

I too would like to see the Solstice coupe in an icy light metallic blue color similar to the 2005 Mustang, but I don't think it will ever happen. While I love some of the darker colors, I hate taking car of them or leaving dark cars out in 105-degree heat and direct sunshilne.

I think beautiful, curvy cars like the Solstice couple were made for light colors which really brings ou the curves. Light blue metallic and green metallic would give all the sparkle of silver without being so common. Silver is the new white and way, way too common for me. I still think of silver as Porsche's color.

Still, I'm a red guy and I can't imaging not going that way. I want to see the burgundy metallic, like the orange and yellow, but red is me.

That's a good question. From the vids I've seen it looks like it has a pressurized release, although I don't know if there will be a button to press that will release it somewhere on the dash or if there will be a button on the key fob. IDK

Same as the trunk on a convertible. Keyfob trunk button or the button in the glove box. Pops open then raises on it's own.

Converting to a hard top would require some very deep digging to find all the parts you need, by them from a dealership, then spending a ton of time and money on custom fabrication to make it work.
