Air conditioner won't turn on?

Got the wife's car back from the stereo shop. I never drive it, so I don't know if was doing this before or not, but the air conditioner won't turn on. I know it worked months ago in warmer weather. When I press the AC button, the light blinks three times. Even with the temp on the coolest setting, the air coming out was very hot.

Saw a post suggesting a failed temp sensor will falsely trigger some kind of overheat mode which disables AC, but the DIC shows a coolant temp, so I don't think that's the problem.

I tried the reset procedure in the post linked below, but it didn't do anything.

Intermittent Air Conditioning?

Any suggestions about troubleshooting this?

If there was a coolant issue the engine fan should be on full blast.

There is probably a fuse for the AC system might want to check that. Could also be the pressure sensor.

There is another AC issue where you need to add a resistor to the HVAC system to get it to respond correctly I can't find that thread this second but I know at least one exists.

I suppose another electrical issue could do it as well and since you just had a shop do an install lord only knows what wires they were playing with.

did the stereo shop have the dash open for work? if so the connector might be loose on the back side. Can you adjust the fan with the same button? Just my thoughts...

what is the outside temp where your at??? when it gets so clod the ac wont turn on if the outside air temp is to low not sure what temp its at but it will only come on for the defrost. If it cam on when its colder out it will just frez up and there would be no point for it to below on due to the colder out door temps.. turn on the defrost, pop the hood and watch the ac compressor and see it it engages and disengages on and off if it does its working like it should its just to cold for it to turn on full ac (P.S if it is to cold outside for it to turn on the light will blink)

Take it back to the stereo shop. Its not coincidence that it stopped working just after getting it back. As Tommy boy said in post three they probably neglected to put the plugs on fully on the HVAC controls. Being the dash has to come off to access the radio the HVAC has to be unplugged. They may have installed the radio connected the battery to check the radio & plugged in the (I think 3) HVAC connectors with the battery connected. That should cause it to go into default mode. If it is in default mode you will only feel the AC if the temp knob is in the furthest left position otherwise it will be full heat mode. Mine would not reset when tried multiple times.I tried a month later with a cold engine & it took the first try. Maybe a cold engine matters??
Just reviewed your first post, so it hot even on the coolest setting. Probably a loose plug or they fried the HVAC control plugging it in with batt. connected. Regardless its bound to be something they did or neglected to do.
Ask your wife if she had been using the AC most women do rather than drop the top or use windows. Also as Hammy221 said was it really cold out when you tried it? And lastly let us know how & what resolves it.

Thanks folks. I'll pull the dash myself and see what I can find.

Pulling the dash is very straightforward. I have had mine out several times. Just keep an eye on the connectors as you pull the boomarang loose.

There are several threads with instructions and pictures.

Have you read about the AC temp calibration? Its possible that its a loss of calibration due to loss of power too. You could try that before you pull the pannel just to be sure. Its quick and easy.

Just remembered this thread. It was the connector behind the dash.
Thanks again for all the info and suggestions, everyone.
