I am interested in if the replacement is a redesign. Metal instead of plastic. Can you ask them to give you the broken part. And take a look at the new part before install and see if it is different? Or are you going to just drop the car off? Let us know what you find out because if it is a new design, you should replace the other side. I will also do mine if a new design.

Joe, sent you a PM on Norm. Can you give him a call?

Chuck

Driver's side went on my car a few months ago, except it was the dealer that pulled it off when they were servicing the car for another repair

The dealer replaced mine today, the design is still plastic! I guess I'll be replacing the handles every few years BTW, the lambo doors were not an issue.

broke handle

Gosh,
made the mistake of trying to open a locked passenger side applying a tad too much pressure. Busted....

Took it to the dealer I bought it from and voila....15 minutes later, fixed!

Replaced with the same crappy plastic though. I miss the days of pittsburgh steel!!!

Didn't take a picture...couldn't if I tried...with the tears in my eyes...

I just got my '06 solstice last week, and the driver's side handle came loose yesterday. Still works, but with just under 8000 miles, I was surprised. So, what can I expect to pay since the warranty has long expired. Thanks for any help! Alan

THe plastic door handles is not just a GM issue. many cars today have gone the plastic route. I can not count the cars i see in a parking lot that have brokem handles. So here is an aftermarket BOOM, make one that is from cast(fro the cheep fix) make some from a CNC out of some good grade alu. There is a future in this.

Especially now that manufacturers are standardizing parts. There wouldn't be many to make for each manufacturer. Ours for instance are pretty standard.

And we only would have to buy two!

I didn't even notice this thread. The same dam thing happen to me. What in the world is going on with these GM people. Don't they know when little stupid things llike this happen is what make people put down their products. When they came out with this car I really thought they were getting on the right track, but when handle break off and rear diff. leaks; and oppinion seal go bad makes me think that nothing has change. What a shame. Hey! has anyone heard anything about the new Honda Hybrid Insight that coming out?

nissan, toyota, all using the same platic handles on many cars its not just a GM thing its a world wide conspiracy. Though i have had no issue with our 08, 7k on it. but i dont just pull on the handle i put my thumb agaist one side while pulling the latch, this might lessen the lever action working against the parts? same with the cup holder, forefinger spins in the ring while i counter with the thumb to rotate the part as i close it. rocket science lol
