Nissan, toyota, all using the same platic handles on many cars its not just a GM thing its a world wide conspiracy.
Hey Mac -

Saw your post... I was looking at my wifes 2008 Corolla noticed her handles look almost identical to my GXP's exterior handles. My car is in storage right now off location so I cant compare them. Are you saying that (A) they are the exact same thing or (B) are they similar in the fact that they are made from plastic?

Just curious.

Add me to the broken door handle club

Came out this morning after gassing up my sol. Pulled on the handle and out she came. It's still attached but I have to hold the portion with the lock and pull on the handle to open the door.

I could have gotten irate but instead I just had to laugh. My first thought was "Great. Is this how my Monday is gonna go?".

'07 N/A with 10500.

Bad news is, the wonderful dealer that I purchased the car from and had outstanding service thereafter has shut down. We have one dealer in town left. I really hope that they don't give me a bunch of crap just because they know they're the only game in town.

This list may go on for a very long time, broken door handles is a very common incident. My passenger side door handle broke off the day I brought her home, very dissapointing!! Fortunately, my dealer, who closed down 6 months ago, was very responsive and took care of it while I waited.

Couple of questions:
1) What does it take to fix it your self?
2) Do we think we can get SANTANA INTERIORS to come up with a solid version?

Maybe filling the void around the threaded studs with epoxy, would make the handle stronger.

The door handles are the exact same part number as on my wife's 2008 Impala, also plastic. I'm sure it is shared with other G door handles.

Good news - the local dealer repaired my door handle under warranty on my '07 N/A. The service writer said that since my car only had 10200mi, they'd write it up as warranty.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Another site Showed what looked like pics of a NEW part? Under you can see 1 extra reinforcement web. BUT IT IS STILL plastic. So far the best mod i am hearing to date is the JB weld fill the voided areas to gain a solid plastic feel.

Getting some Metal cast or CN cut set ups sounds like a built in $ maker. How many cars are built using this part, other than cobolts? Thata alota handles since all the factory parts are plastic and will break again unless all whom touch it are very genteel.

Santana Interiors has a set of handles that arrived today. We will know shortly if he can help us out. The plan is an aluminum billeted design that is durable and built to last!!!

GM is trying to turn you into a TERMINATOR... Hows that? The part is still PLASTIC and it will fail again. So....

"YOU'LL BE BACK!!!"

Nice thought... Unfoturnately the threads are plastic so they will eventually fail as well event with the epoxy filler.

Here is the list of GM cars that use the same handles...

Buick Lucerne
Chevy Cobalt
Chevy Impala
Chevy HHR
Pontiac Solstice
Saturn Sky

Thats alot of cars that are going through the same

I heard that GM wasnt the only one suckered in to using these same crappy handles. A friend swears his Ford Mustang uses a similar design. My wife's Toyota Corolla looks close but it is slightly different.

Please add to my list or correct anything that is posted wrong.
