   Broken Passenger Cup Holder...

I keep my ipod in the passenger cup holder so I don't close it much. It was open for months and I tried closing it for the winter the other day -- Wouldn't you know that the collapsable black plastic ring just snapped right off in the process (and I wasn't even using a lot of force, either). Any ideas if I might be able to talk Pontiac into a free fix or are they going to charge me out of warranty for this? Anyone know how much??? It took a piece of the outer plastic off that holds the ring in, as well. I can get it closed now but as soon as I open it the ring falls right out.

My first blemish to my baby inside or out, it makes me sad!!!

My first car had a problem with the 3rd cupholder. It was counter-sunk on the hinge side and hard to open/close. Took it to dealer and they said it had been 'improperly installed' at the factory. Free fix under warranty. Just tell them you think it was installed wrong and see what they say. I think you'll be fine.

Mine was DOA and it took about 10 days for the part to arrive. It is covered under warranty and is free.

My cup holder on the passenger side of the console was replaced today under warranty. The ring around the top broke in half when I tried to close it the other day. I guess I forced it a little too much. They had to order it, but it only took a couple of days for it to arrive.

I noticed mine starting to stick last weekend.
I found some Dielectric Silicone spray at AutoZone $2.99 for the can.

Sprayed some in a paper cup, dipped a Q-tip into the cup, applied it to the inside portion of the assembly and the underside of the ring of the cup holder. This is the same spray that I used on the convt. top pinching problem. You don't have to apply a lot of it, works great. I will start to apply this to the cup holder once a month as I do the convt. top parts.
