Stupid key fob! I peeled it apart when it stopped working (luckily it stopped with the alarm NOT set so I can old school the key in the lock and drive the car ) and the trident battery holder popped right out unattached to the circuit board! So, it does not work because it FELL OFF. So, can I just resolder it on the 3 attachment points or should I take it into a dealer and try to get it fixed? Anyone soldered theirs out there? Did it work?
You basically have 2 options. If your car is still under warranty, you can get it replaced.
However, this is a fairly common problem and your new one may also do the same thing.
The original solder joints were not well done.
Several other have soldered the battery holder back in. I did mine a year and a half ago and have had no problems since then. It took just a few minutes to fix it.

That is them! All three of them...was trying to figure out how to show it but this pic is it exactly. Thanks for the heads up...my father in law is an actual rocket scientest and has all the right tools...I'll try and fix it myself first, and then if it does not work I can try the dealer.
Thanks!
Crazy glue works for a few months, or until you drop it again. Nice piece of workmanship huh!.. Good luck. I don't think the Dealer will replace often. maybe first time just as a new car buyer.
Good luck Ace, let me know. I have two that are broken.

Flying Ace Thats funny ,just 2 weeks ago mine stopped working and though it was the battrey . Opened it up and wola the same thing I went in for an Oil change told them about it and it was replaced Free of charge big N/C
Thats odd as they are much the same as the ones on my Chevy truck. 105000 miles and lots of dropping and abuse. Many new batteries and they look like crap. One is getting to where you need to push the unlock button hard to get it to work. Thats mine. Michelle rarely ever drives the truck so hers looks like new. She mostly only drives the truck when it snows or her car is out of gas. I guess things are made cheaper all the time. One problem with replacing them is there is a limited number of fobs that can be set to your car. I think its 8 but not sure.

Mine's broke too, tried to solder it myself - Hahaha! The dealer wanted $125 for replacement. jmho - they should be giving them away for free considering the circumstances.

Will do. Thanks everyone for all the ideas. I guess I've chagned my mind after reading all the posts...if it is a warranty part I'll try and get the dealer to replace it. But it is good to know that fixing it yourself is as easy as a little solder. I'll let you know what happens...hopefully they'll just replace it and be done with it. I really like that temporary solution you described Excelsior...I may give that a go in the short term before I can get to the dealer. Its funny though...using the key in the lock is really taking me back...I guess I've become pretty spoiled over the years with the fob!
Both of my fob's are broken. The soldering completely broke.Dealership says they will replace and reprogram for free. My Sols is a 2009 and warranty applies.

Same here. I re-soldered mine and it works, but the joints broke again. Also, I have to squeeze the hell out of the lock button for 5 seconds to get it to lock, but the unlock and trunk work just fine. I am assuming this is not normal.
If the fob kacks, at least you can use the key for the door. But how the heck can I open the rear window on the coupe to access stuff back there it my fob isn't working?? There is no release button in the car.
