Wow!!! Thats what turbo heat does to manifolds, although I think yours was a quality defect. Anyway, I'm a welder and there is no way the greatest welder could put a lasting repair on that. Nor is JB Weld or any other miracle juice other than a new manifold gonna set you straight. I'd be all over the dealer on that one. Good luck..

Think the idea will be to stay away from the defect tag. Since that would make it a warranty item. WHich would make it no longer covered by the expired 36 month or 36,000 mile warranty.

The idea is to tie it into the cat replacement and hope to get coverage consideration from GM/Pontiac.

As a 2006 it is not a turbo.

My bad...I looked at the pic and thought that was a turbo behind it. After all, it is the 4th and all. I'm bored but home and not of sound mind...

So I called Pontiac's 800# and he said the manifold MAY be under warranty. They have to first determine if the crack is a defect or the result of the catalytic repair causing. I called the local dealership and was told to bring it in on next Thursday because that's when their regional boss or somebody important will be there. Here's hoping. I'll keep you posted...

So here's the deal: Of course the dealership said the catalytic repair had nothing to do with the crack and therefore won't fix it. Maybe is just because I didn't have it fixed there and they don't want to take responsibility. So, I ended up putting the cold weld around the crack and its been holding up pretty well for about 1k miles. It's just temporary, it'll get fixed soon.
