I just can't see the front wheel rubbing anywhere on the car unless your fender liner is seriously malformed. I have aftermarket coilovers with a 1.5 inch drop and -2 camber up front,...... with no rubbing issues. All the auto-x'ers here don't report this either with stock ride height, lowered cars, wider tires, more aggressive camber, etc.

You can see my car here . http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f...stalled-45182/

Check the inner fender liner for rub marks. That should be easy to see. Diagnose the problem more, only on left turns? Only when pushing the car or all the time? Can you tell which side it is coming from? Both? Jack up the front and turn the wheel to full left lock and look for yourself. Spin the tires. Look for anything out of place.

Good luck. Dealers tend to often suck IMO (but not a few here. )

Fourth ... did you get that print out of the alignment they "supposedly" did?

Have you had them RIDE WITH YOU to "replicate" the problem so YOU can point out the NOISE to THEM?
No paperwork that states the rubbing issue. The dealer was saying that it was rubbing...now they are not. I think we know what they will put on paper.

I agree that the muffler has nothing to do with it. GM clearly disagrees with me, and logic.

I will look the car over this weekend to see if I can find any damaging marks.

I am just going to try another dealer if the issue continues.
I simply cannot believe how badly I have been treated. I am seriously considering selling the car.
Too many issues for 25,000 miles. 2 differentials, leaky trunk, now this.

Dude, seriously relax a little. Your state of panic is going to make the situation seem worse that it might actually be. First, go get your car because obviously that service manager is not willing to do much more than patronize you. Second, take your car home and take note of the conditions that cause the rub (speed, steering wheel angle, road bumps, etc...). Third, take some pictures of the wheel well in question with your steering tires pointing straight ahead and then some more pictures of the wheel turned left to right. Try to see if one of the steering angles causes your rubbing issue. Fourth, come back to the forum with your findings. I am sure there are plenty of good minds on this forum that could help figure this one out.

You still haven't answered question #4 ... the alignment they did - numbers for the camber before and after?

"We spoke to the service manager. He told us that they cannot replicate the problem and that you need to put the stock muffler back on the car which might fix the issue."
WTF?
How can a muffler cause a wheel to rub? I asked the "GM rep" about this and all he said was that he cannot comment on the issue.
This is by far the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced.
My car isn't fixed.
GM is not going to fix it.
The dealership also said that they "are unable to replicate the issue". This is after they told me that they found the front wheels rubbing.

Looks like I might have to trade or sell this car just to get away from GM.

Worst experience ever.
I feel your pain, and frankly, too many car dealers are CRAP, and while I am very GM loyal, the crappy dealers are not helping GM's image. We don't deal with GM or Pontiac etc etc, we're forced to work with the dealers. The Customer service people at Pontiac get the 'story' from the dealer, and in this case, I'd say both have dropped the ball. Exhaust change will fix a wheel rub issue? Are they trying to look as stupid as they sound??

Sorry-I'm working my own issue with my dealer right now, and I'm loaded for a fight.

Hang tough, do some more investigations, as mentioned. I've found 95% of the time there's someone or several someones here who have more insight and better info than the dealers do, hands down.

I guess I will have to swallow my pride and call the service manager again to try and get the printout. I can almost guarantee he will not "be able" to provide it to me.

I am certainly not replacing the gas on the loaner they gave me!!

more details to come....
And thanks everyone.

Edit: Wow Momsol was right that was not at all an issue. I am supposed to have a printout of the camber adjustment when I pick up the car this evening.

Just went and dug out the info from my old "alignment issue" ... here are what the alignment specs were at that time:

2006 Solstice:

Front Suspension
Camber -0.50° ± 0.60°
Camber Cross Tolerance 0.00° ± 0.60°

Caster 8.00° ± 0.60°
Caster Cross Tolerance 0.00 ± 0.60°
Total Toe 0.10° ± 0.20
Steering Wheel Angle 0.00°± 3.50°

Rear Suspension
Camber -0.50° ± 0.50°
Camber Cross Tolerance 0.00° ± 0.50°
Caster -4.00°± 0.75°
Total Toe 0.10° ± 0.20
Thrust Angle 0.00° ± 0.20°

Camber and Camber Cross Tolerance are the ones I would be most interested in seeing the BEFORE and AFTER readings.

Read this and print it out. It's called the Magnuson-Moss Act. It was a bill passed by the U.S. Congress about modifications and warranty issues. Show this to the dealer that said to change your muffler. It's their burden to prove that your aftermarket muffler is causing the wheel rub issue. Then find another dealer

Magna Charger manufacturers intercooled supercharging systems for late model GM and Ford cars, trucks and SUVs utilizing OEM quality Eaton hybrid superchargers.

Cliff notes version: Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Another version: A Businessperson's Guide to Federal Warranty Law

Maybe an automotive shop is the way to go? Just to get what the issue is so that there is no lying delt with? then maybe get that paperwork and prove it to the dealer or GM? Just a thought.
