Ignition key not turning?

This is the 3rd time my key has not turned without a lot of work?
I've turned and turned with no luck? did the cluch, did the shifter, turned the wheel, etc etc , then all the sudden it works? maybe a bad tumbler?
Has anyone else had issue.

Check to make sure your keys not burred or twisted any. I had a similar issue and the key had gotten twisted slightly. Straightened back out and all is well.

Thanks..
My key does not look twisted or bent, So I hope I get home?
I guess I could just take it to the dealer and see what they can do?. Not a great felling

If you have a lot of other keys and stuff weighting down your key ring, this over time can do damage to your key and lock. I had this scenario on a couple of vehicles in the past. Now I just use separate key rings for the vehicle and other stuff. No problems since.

I do keep this one on its own ring, by itself. I will get my other key tonight (if I get home). I do have 40,000 miles on my 08', so it has been used. Maybe a bit of graphite and the 2nd key. Thanks

Good to see you are getting a lot of enjoyment out of your Sol.
On my Jeep when this happened, it was running and I couldn't turn it off. I got to the dealer about 5 minutes before they closed, they pulled it in for me and stopped it running. When I was taking off my house key, the ignition turned off. I just let them change out the ignition key assembly anyway because of Murphy's Law.

Check the forum out with the search function. This has happened before and people have had bad tumblers. ie replace ignition. That is what it sounds like to me since you have played with the steering before with no luck.

Best wishes.

The key worked and I got to the dealer, where we could not get it to fail - No Problem - he ordered a new key switch and is going to install it today no charge.

Then you are obviously not thier first to come in for this. Glad it's getting resolved.

Well the new tumbler worked for 2 days.... Yesterday in the afternoon. The key locked up in the cylinder... I was able to get it to turnover and start, but it is lock in on.. Took it right to the dealer where they unhooked the battery. Now a new a ignition switch is going in today.

Everything is working again - New key is on order, as they had to break it to get the trim off.

Cheers
