GDI. Try another battery. A high current draw induced short is one of the most common battery failures.

The OP states that the engine makes a noise when he turns the key. That suggests power supply issue. If the clutch safety switch was not working, it shouldn't make any noise at all, just dead key.

I'm going with TS on this one: Check the battery and terminals. Just get a new battery and put it in. At least you will eliminate that variable for sure.

It sounds like a weak battery issue to me too. Of course you should also check the cables from the battery, if a ground wire is not good it will give the same symptom as a weak battery.

Thanks everybody

Had the same issues as OP but with an auto GXP. Same basic symptoms, including the "lock light" icon. Didn't even bother with a key relearn since my battery was 6 years old and would no longer take a charge. But it stumped me that I couldn't jump start. Finally did the fender removal with help of a couple of YouTube videos. Swapped out the battery and everything was golden again*! Did not even have to do a key relearn. So I think that is a red herring symptom.

Nice thing was my battery terminals showed no signs of corrosion whatsoever. I'm sure that's partly because I garage it most of the time and usually avoid driving in the rain if I can. Also, I still only have about 19K on it. But after not driving for a few months it was like getting a brand new car again!

[*Well, I do have to replace a taillight. But I already got the bulb and another YouTube video and it looks pretty straightforward. And it's ragtop weather in So Cal once again!]

Rich, you're killing me here. Talking "ragtop weather" when we've received 10 inches of snow in SW Michigan in the last 24 hours (and 6-8 more on the way.) Had the garage door open going out to my truck this morning and saw snow blow in onto the Solstice. First time (I believe) it's ever had snow on it!

I dare say that although the lights are on and somebody is home, I don't expect there was any forward (or rearward) motion to be had in that Wisconsin Sol!

Stage 1 supercharged for 8 years and over 165,000 mi.
