I was driving the car today and noticed that the rear window was not as sturdy as when I first got the car. (sturdy as in not attached to the ragtop all the way around the window ) Used to have trouble shutting the door due to interior pressure, but not anymore! I checked the seam around the window and found that the entire top of the window where it should be glued onto the ragtop is loose. (not attached) I can't even find a trace of glue and was wondering if this is normal. I've posted some pictures. It's not just one section, it's the entire top of the window. Doesn't seem right. Anyone have this problem?
Just got back from the dealer and they have a service bulletin #1772397 regarding rear glass separating from the convertible top. They are going to rebond the glass to the top sometime next week, when the glass guy can get to the shop. FYI
I have no idea if it's up to date. Maybe Small Dealer can get a copy posted. I have the paper copy of Document ID #1772397 from the dealer. My window is half in and half out but I don't see it when the top is in the trunk
All of these things that keep popping up are the reason i felt it worth it to wait for an 07 model. Most of these kinks should be worked out for my car
of course I'm gettting an 07 GXP, so it will have all sorts of its own first run problems. But at least some of the core structural and non-engine related mechanical problems should be worked out.

You think!!
SOL369's is (my guess) the first with this problem. Not bad, one of over 17,000. It was probably a Monday and the glue guy on line sniffed instead of applying!!!!

The Sols are still basically hand built, it is far more effected by human intervention or lack of it than most cars on the road. Robots don't get hangovers, but I like the having a hand built car. I have a CVO Harley it was never on the assembly line and it has it's own quirks no two are exactly the same, just like the Solstice, so far my troubles have been minor, and I drive it like I stole it. ( I am going to check my window when I get off work, thanks for the update )

The reason you didn't find a trace of glue where the glass has separated from the fabric is because the manufacturer does not use glue to seal the glass to the fabric..well at least not the type of glue you are thinking of. The glass does get a coating of an adhesive called a "primer". It's a very thin coating that is transparent and dries within a few minutes. The vinyl part of the fabric also gets a coating of this adhesive. Both are allowed to dry before they get bonded together. The glass and fabric is heat sealed together. Oh I don't mean they are thrown into an oven. The process is called "dielectric radio-frequency heat sealing"...they get zapped with lots of kilowatts of R.F. energy (at 27 MHz) while being modestly compressed between two dies with about 50 psi of pressure applied.
Anyway, what you had was definately a defective heat sealing job, whether it was because of the person applying the adhesive or because the heat sealing machine didn't apply enough heat, it should have never left the factory.
I am rather surprised that GM is issuing a bulletin to use a glue to repair such a large separation...what's next?... issuing a bulletin to use JB Weld on cylinder heads???

So the VFO on the CB was off that day? Or maybe there wasnt enough cable after the Linear.
