AreoDave; If you push down on the corner of your car that has the defective strut, can you tell that the rebound is wrong? That is, is it obvious that it is responding to the rebound of the spring without any dampening effect that the shock should provide? You might want to try this same test on the "good" side for a comparison. Does it drive any different?
I don't notice much difference right now. My leak is not as bad as tugmate's must have been. Mine is not leaving puddles, so there is still alot of shock oil in there doing it's job. The only reason I noticed it is that my garage is at the bottom of my driveway and we live on a hill, and I don't have a garage door opener installed yet, so every morning I drive my car to the top of the hill and then go down and close the garage door. On my walk back up, I get a good look at the underside of my car at the rear. I noticed the mess on the A-arm, checked it out, and then remembered a thread about leaky shocks.
I encourage all 1st 1k owners at least to go out and poke your head under there if you haven't all ready. They might be leaking and you may not know it for a long time.

More significantly, A'D', is the liklihood that you may have lost gas pressure in your shock. You may not see anything in the test you are doing, but will gradually show up on higher frequency bumps as the shock oil begins to cavitate.
I wouldn't wait too long before getting it in and done. At least get the dealership ordering the part.
Well she is back and there is a big difference when I go over bumps. The banging is gone. I am going to keep a close eye on them and let you all know if anything changes. Thanks for everyone input.
I had two shocks fail. The dealer inspected and ordered two to replace them. They were leaking the fluid all over. It was my front left and right rear. I found it when cahnging the oil when it was on the lift. What do people think about the ride. Will it be worse? It seem's as if I go over the slightest bumb it is like bang!! Any opinions would be great.
I just took a ride to Philly from Long Island NY, 320 miles round trip and the ride was fine no jolts or bump on the highways or local roads.

I'm leaving town for the holidays, so I won't be dealing with it until next year. But I think it'll hold up until the new part arrives.

Finally fixed my shocks. Found Fremont Pontiac/GMC to be very helpful and customer oriented. I recommend them for repairs. Don't know about buying there though, they're still marking up GTOs by $3,000! Took 3 days to get the parts and one day to install. They even got me a rental car because they are so far from me. I thought I just had my left rear shock leaking, but the right front one was too.
The dealers near my house, Connell Pontiac in Oakland and Marina Pontiac/GMC in San Leandro (where I bought my Sol) suck at service.

Had the rear wheels off today installing the rear mud flaps and noticed the right rear shock looks like it has leaked and left a puddle of oil on top of the "A" arm. Also have a leak on the differential. Don't think it is the pinion seal, appears to be coming from the side. It goes to the dealer next week.
vegachief; Keep us updated. If the leak is a diff. vent or pinion seal related please make a post to the leaking diff. thread. If it is a bad shock/strut also let Gizmo know, as he is tracking both issues. Thanks.
I had A shock fail, on my 2007 solstice 1900 km, on the car...Im assuming these shocks are not acceptable. My question is will they keep putting the same shocks back on until the warrenty is up?
As a heads up I had a shock start pissing out on the suspension of the car that I found out earlier this year. The car had 2000 miles! I found it when putting on the KW V3 coilovers. I brought this to the attention of the dealer, showed them the oil all over the suspension arms and they tried to deny service because the shocks were no longer on the car. I made a stink and they honoured it.
I recommend everyone look at their suspension for an oil film indicating a shock leak.
