Reason: type-o
I don't want to sell her! So the numbers to me are pretty meaningless.....
Some probably won't agree but even the first 9 months I've had this Sol have almost been worth the sticker price. Hard to put a number on fun fun fun.

They will go down, if they ever go back up remains to be seen.
When I turned 16 in 1969 you could pick up a 57 chevy for $250 to $450.
I should have bought a dozen.
Now, by no means am I saying that this will happen to the solstice... but this does bring up a good point. Almost as a rule, cars never appreciate until they're classics. That's if they even do appreciate in value at all.
For me, I don't care. I personally think anyone who bought this car as an investment is a bad decision maker.

But the car for sale at a local high end used car lot---a guy who sells his share of Range Rovers, Porsches, Audi, BMW, M-B, Cadillac (mostly Escalades and an occasional CTS) had the 2008 1200 mile GXP for 26K and change, and this was an extremely attactive loaded one with automatic. If a used car dealer is SELLING one that MSRPed above $32K and is selling it at $26K-$27K, then you can bet HE PAID even less to obtain it. Of course, it is January and was 26 degrees at 3 AM when I drove TOP DOWN 240 miles to Las Cruces, but then again, if I could do that with the love of my PHATGXP then others could buy one for that savings and pocket the rest. Seems to reason...
Like I said, someone traded her in and got ripped on the trade, they probably ripped them so bad that the 26K price tag is a good deal of $$$ profit for the used car dealer.

Amazing that a car built back in the middle of 2005 is worth $21,140. in January of 2008! only $360 less than it's original cost!
When was the last time anyone owned a "new" American car that could make that claim?
2006 Pontiac Solstice Convertible 2D
Private Party Value 7,200 miles. 01/05/2008
ZIP Code
Excellent Outstanding condition, top 5%
$21,140
If you had bought an 06 Miata Mx5 you would have seen a KBB loss of about $4,400. An 06 Crossfire you would have taken an $11,000 hit.$$$$ Big losses on most cars.
We are very fortunate that our Solstice is so well loved, it really holds it's value

your 2.5 year old sol with 6 months of warranty remaining... 21,140 +TTL
first year base model car, terrible reliability rating
OR
2007 leftover GXP for 26,000 OTD. New warranty 60/60,000? 0 miles
turbo model with prior issues from factory (hopefully) addressed
Considering all, the car with the warranty & zero miles would be mine.
I'm only keeping mine for 3 years and she gets the boot. If I could get high teens I'd be thrilled.

What are the options on the GXP? I would not do W/O XM, On, Sound.....
and what is the factory issue?

I totally concur. I respect Mitch, but totally disagree with his postings on this subject, and this subject alone. He has consistently posted his belief in what edmunds or other valuation sites suggest, but they are not reality based. Try selling your Solstice and see what you are offered. If you get an offer, that is. Further, your logic Scootch, a brand new 07 leftover with a full 7 year warranty and other perks versus a used base is a no brainer. And others are gonna feel the exact same way, unless it is a lower serial number 1st 1K for Authenticity only. Sadly, some here feel that this car was their investment nestegg, as discussed to infinity and beyond this past year. That, is sad commentary. But, looking at it for what it is worth, now is the time to PURCHASE a new or used Sol because of the incentives, the BUYERS MARKET, and the fact they there seem to be readily available. That last part says a lot.

Sites like KBB have a habit of being a bit behind the market and being optimistic. Especially with their "Excellent" ratings. Most cars that would be excellent still rarely if ever command the KBB excellent figure. Nobody would pay $21K for a used Sol when you can get a lightly optioned new one for not much more. $22,785 for a no option 2008 Sol, 3/36 base warranty, 5/100 powertrain, and comes with Onstar and the premium acoustic headliner.
Although there are a couple options Mitch has this car doesn't, this car also has $1000 loyalty cash and $500 rebate on the hood. So it could be had for $21, 285. It would make it a difficult decision to take a used car running low on warranty for $21.1K when you can get this one at $21.2K.
That said, it doesn't mean it would be impossible for Mitch to get that much for his car too. If it is truely still in exceptional condition, and demand in his area is relatively high with supply relatively low, it is possible. Also, if he find the right buyer that has to have that exact car, it may draw that much. However, all things equal, it generally would not sell at that price.
that leftover 2007 gxp has auto, air, leather monssson, headliner, optional radio, spoiler, plus they have a base with same options except fot 5 speed manual for 22,000 plus tax if mitch can get 21500 for old one sell as fast as he can!!!
The supply has caught up with demand, that's all. No worse then the 2007 $50K BMW X5s, ML350s, Tahoes, Denalis that are now for sale for $30K.
I just feel bad for the suckers that paid above MSRP, I'm glad I waited and got an '08. No rear end problems and I was able to beat 'em up on price a bit.
