While having my power window switch fixed, I was told that a hose in the engine has been recalled since transmission fluid can leak into the transmission, resulting in having to get the transmission replaced. I was lucky, this hadn't happened, but the hose was replaced as a precaution.

Glad you dealership was on the ball and caught this.
This wasn't a recall though. Pontiac had requested that certain automatic transmisison cars in dealership inventory and then in customer hands be inspected and , as was yours, modified to keep water from entering the transmission. Site member windface started thread about in back on June 1st.

While I was at the dealer finding out I needed a new differential and a new air conditioner compressor, I also found out about needing to replace the hoses. In my case the service tech first used the word recall and then all future references he used the word "service bulletin". I guess it doesn't really matter as long as it gets corrected.

I’ll be taking my car into the dealer for this (and other issues) on Monday - just as long as it’s not raining! LOL.

GM/Pontiac/Saturn are now going to send out notification letters to this small group of owners that may be effected. The procedure hasn't changed or the VIN grouping, just the notification and an increase in the time to have the inspection performed. Of course many will have already been checked since the request first came out over a month ago to dealerships.

I got my notification letter today regarding the vent tube issue on the automatic transmissions. It is interesting to note that the word "recall" is not used in the letter. Rather, I have been notified, per this letter, that "Pontiac is conducting a voluntary customer satisfaction program that affects certain 2006 model year Pontiac Solstice vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission."
Whether a recall or a "customer satsifaction program", I will be taking my Sol to my local dealer on Friday. I will be sure to have this letter in hand when I arrive. I took a copy of the service bulletin that was posted on this site regarding this issue to two local Pontiac dealers a few weeks ago (not my purchasing dealer). Both Service departments seemed unaware of the issue and, actually, were not very friendly about the matter. However, I am happy that this notice was sent by Pontiac. There should be no questions and/or doubts about this potential problem now.

I too got the letter to take SuzyQ in for a check since she's an auto. Will they have to put the car on the rack to check this out? I don't want them doing any damage. I knew about this before the car ever came in and mentioned it to the salesman but they never did anything about it. So I am glad I got the letter also.

You should be getting a letter. Don't have to wait on the letter, you can call your dealership and make an appointment. Make sure they have the parts needed in stock, before going in.

Well if you're like me and drove 300 miles to the dealership, I would just call and ask the original dealership. If they don't know for sure they checked the transmission then i might just ask my local dealership to take a look. They keep the service history on each car, so they can look it up to.

No, in theory any Pontiac dealership can perform the inspection and update if required.

I did call the dealership where we picked her up from and of course I had to leave a message no answer Im also waiting on a call back to find out if the dealer near our house can fix the dent in the fender that happend at the factory and line up the trunck
She still looks great going down the road.
