I just replaced my plastic steering wheel (convenience pkg. only), with the leather -wrapped wheel. It is an easy upgrade. The DIC and cruise buttons continue to function, of course, and the additional radio controls work as well. I had access to a GM tech, who did it in about 25 minutes. You could easily do it yourself if you have a steering wheel puller. List price is steep, about 245.00, but I got it for 155.00, which was well worth it to me. I did not want leather seats ( I think the cloth ones look cool, and grip even better than the leather ones), but I knew I could add the wheel later, so I did

Well done, PATIOTRAY. Make the car just the way you like it!

May I have the color of your #1556 and the date Delivered To Customer and your city of residence please? It's for THE LIST. Thanks.

Any pics of the upgrade? We didn't go with the leather as well since we like cloth over leather seats, but would like to upgrade the steering wheel as well when we get the car.

You are my new personal Hero!!!!!!!

We've had long discussions about the need for a leather-wrapped steering wheel to be added as an option without leather seats. That's cool that the Radio Controls work too! I'm sooo doing this is Pontiac doesn't buy a clue and gives us our wheel.

How much would labor be for the non-connected?

P.S. You gotta upload some pics!

I'm sure any respectable Pontaic dealer would be more than happy to assist you in getting both the part and the labor.

Could be wrong but isn't there a danger of the air-bag deploying and blow'n your head off? I'll let a pro play with that!

I'm going to my dealer Monday and while I'm there I will be making arrangements to have this done if I can keep it under 4 bills. I really hate leather and bummed I could not get the wrapped wheel, though I've found I don't hate the plastic one near as much as I thought I would.

Thanks for the info!!!

Hey all- The airbag system can be deactivated by disconnecting the negative batt. terminal and waiting at least 60 seconds, but please do not attempt this mod w/o proper service manual guidance. It is very simple, but you still have to know the procedure. Also, no pics b/c I'm lazy (not really!) , and also, it is the same leather wheel you can see in countless other pics on the forum- any car with the leather pkg. Gizmo- I responded to "the List" with my info, but here it is again: Vin 1556, Sly, ordered April, Del. Dec. 3, resides in Roanoke, VA. 57 degrees today, top came off, wife wore Santa hat. Life is good

Hey guys,

Do they offer a leather steering wheel WITHOUT all the buttons? I'd like to have the leather wheel, but I didn't order any of those options (nor do I want them).

Thanks!

Please oh please take a picture! Just get a shot of steering wheel and the cloth seats in the same shot. That is a shot nobody has ever seen. Except you of course.

Leather package added the radio controls, so I believe that's the only way it comes.

Thanks!

The C6 Corvette steering wheel is without radio controls. Funny the Corvette owner would like to have them...

I saw the cloth seats. They do look much better than I expected. But I ordered the Leather for the Two-Tone Look! The two-tone look completes the car. Just my thoughts! Good job on the steering wheel issue!

If the Solstice cloth seats are like the cloth seats in the G6... they are in fact really nice.

Yeah, but I mean... is it possible for me to buy the steering wheel, and then remove all the buttons and use the face from my existing steering wheel?

Or maybe they just sell that one part seperately at the parts counter?
