Strange Problem.<no start/electrical issues?>

Ok,

Here's one for you guys to chew on. Go out to start the car and when I turn the key, I get all the lights but it doesn't turn over. Tried pulling the battery and resetting ECU and nothing. I let it sit overnight and I go out and it starts right up. It has been doing this on occasion so we installed an override switch that I can use to get the car started by bridging the starter when the key in switched on. Now get this, this is the weird part. When the car is doing this, the DIC information button that you use to scroll through the options doesn't work. Also the climate controls also black out. I can't change the vent direction or turn on the AC, just the fan comes on.

Any clues?

Clear

Maybe a bad chip in your key???

Try using your other key that the dealer supplied...

Maybe the fuse holder issue? Or a bad ground cable attachment somewhere? Solscuba has a simmilar no-start problem, all lights work but starter doesn't spin. And DIC reports funky data.

Maybe we've reached the effective life of the key chips/batteries.

Maybe more of us have this in our futures?

Do you have a garage door keyfob?

There have been reports of them interfeering with the electronic chip in the key

Thanks for the suggestions. I am definately leaning towards a wiring issue with the BCM. With the DIC and climate controls also going wacky, I can't think of anything else that would cause it. Will be checking it out this weekend.

Bcm Issue

Thats what I would say. Seems many cars are having electrical issues. Do you have any parts from the old car to swap out. Sounds like to many unexplainable airplane issues. Good luck Tony..

Check for any electrical parts marked "Lucas", yank them out and toss 'em away - you don't need them. Works every time on a MG.

Solscuba just reported his problem WAS the cracked fuse block issue. Part is on national backorder, but at least the problem was identified. This certainly could be your problem as well.

Problem Solved

Well it looks like we found the problem. It appears the large connectors going to the BCM were not well seated. I had my wife try the key while I tapped on the BCM and sure enough, it started. I pulled all the plugs and reseated them. Haven't had the problem for several days now. Let's hope we got it.
