When I attempt to raise the top, there are two "flaps" that are supposed to rise up as the top comes up. These are located right behind the driver & passenger seats. The one behind the driver's seat goes up as it is supposed to, but the one behind the passenger's seat does not, which means I have to go to the other side of the car and manually lift that flap to get the top all the way up.

I can see what is supposed to cause the flap to go up, but I cannot seem to fix it. I will take it to the dealer this week, but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks for any input/help.

Yes, I have the same problem-except in reverse. I can raise the top with no problem, but when I go to lower it, the flap on the passenger side does not raise and I have to go around and raise it manually and hold it up while lowering the top. I have not had time yet to take it in to daler to fix-but need to. Let me know if you find the solution and how long it takes to repair. I would like to be able to repair it myself without a trip to the dealer, but doubt it.

Ive seen the same problem over here at our dealership. A imperfection like this usually just takes tiny adjustment, nothing major. Bring it to the local dealership out and it shouldnt be a long process. Took one of the guys about 10 minutes of waiting

Wonder if these internal cables inside the buttresses are somehow involved ?
Top and driver side bolster mechanism [wind noise, cable in buttress].

Not the same problem but still a top problem, the little rod that pushes the top up to meet with the window on the passenger side keeps popping of. Pops back on pretty easy but it's a pain anyone else seen this one, just happened last weekend and now it happens everytime I put the top down.

You are most likely correct, I will compare the drivers side to it when the humidity in the air goes down, along with the top. Or I may just go bug the dealer, the General Manager is a buddy and I need to stop in a say his anyway.

A 10mm wrench will allow you to trun the ball one full revolution and (hopefully) fix this problem. My top behaved like yours when I first received it (except onthe driver's side). I recalled someone else on the forum mentioning this probelm and found their post. I just counted expoded threads on the WORKING side and made sure I hade the same number of threads exposed on the other side. I did so, reconnected the rod ONCE and have had NO problems since. Please feel free to PM me if you need further details.

Just did a search of my own posts. Try this thread for further info (my post is #39 on this thread): Top problem and quality issue

I have the same flap problem when putting the roof up. Both flaps stick in the up position and I have to reach in and free them in order to get the roof to close all the way. I even have wear marks on the flaps from where they get caught.

Please let us know the cause and fix.

Thanks,

I have a different type of top problem.......when I put the top up and sit inside and align the pegs on each side into the receptors I have to push very-very hard to get the latch to catch. I'm strong and don't see how some owners could get the top latched if it performed like this.

Is there some type of adjustment that has been posted or anybody knows about? Or am I doing something wrong? Maybe it is a simple thing.......

Thanks for the help if you have an answer.

Mine did that after I slammed the trunk on the latch hook because I closed the latch before stowing the top. (don't do that)

Took a vise grips, bent the latch hook straight and now it works fine.

I had this problem and discovered that it was caused by the seat being pushed to far back. I had been in the habit of reclining the back to my liking, then pushing the seat as far back as possible till it was pushing on that flap area. It must have tweeked it just a bit, because one day the flap just stuck. After I moved the seat up, no more problem. Now I leave just a little space and don't sit so far back.

Thank you very much I had guessed that an adjustment might be the fix, now that it stopped raining I can fix it. May you be blessed with sunny top down days for sharing your wisdom!

Stopped by the dealer today and it took the service tech about 30 seconds to look at the cable that activates the flap. He quickly noticed it had popped out of the place where it was supposed to have been secured. He popped it back in and cured the problem in literally seconds. The flaps now go up and down as advertised.

I'm having a rough go of it with the L shaped brackets the pegs for the top sits on when stowed. The tiny pieces of felt that came from the factory didn't cover the spots the pegs were hitting (even with a firm push to compress top down). I've tried some 'very firm' weather stripping but it doesn't stick very well. I'm not sure that more felt is the answer. Whatever I try is going to require something more than self-stick adhesive as everything pops off, not sure what to do.

I did try some rubber tubing (clear very flexible) worked ok but kept working itself loose.

Anyone have a more perment fix, the metal on metal squeak is really annoying.
