hey guys, the weather was freezing here in ct and this morning I wanted to put something in my trunk but it wouldn't open due to some ice on the seam
I didn't want to break off the ice so I just put what I needed stored behind my seat
anyway, I was pretty certain the trunk didn't release because it didn't budge, was still flush to the rest of the car and it surely looked secure, to be sure I gave it a shove
anyway, was driving for about 20 minutes and all of a sudden the trunk light and alarm went off
I think the butresses saved me this time, the turnk didn't open
in any event, if you click the trunk release and it doesn't open, be sure you open it and close it before you drive away

I posted on this in January I think.
Closed a door and the trunk came up just enough to grab and raise by hand.
Even on flat ground, water will dam up at the top/trunk, so we try to park on a down hill in rain especially if it is going to freeze.
There seems to be one little spot where a tiny about of water can get past the first outside gasket, just enough moisture to freeze the boot seal.
The term downhill could be a bit deciving. Park with the nose higher than the tail, you don't want the water pooling at the front of the trunk

Absolutly with the rear on the downhill grade as above. Baby's usual spot is around 2.5% and that seems to do it. I'm so anal I forget to not assume the unsaid may not be known.
I would park her under the house but I afraid of knocking the house pilings down.
I've given up on the trunk in the cold weather. If I need to use it I'll warm the car up before even trying otherwise in cold weather I've just gotten adjusted to shoving everything in the front seat.

yeah, I've given up on the trunk during winter time as well..
no way to open them when they are frozen shut.
I don't even try to open it because it'll make the "trunk alarm" noise until I can open it and shut it close.

I was scared that it would pop open at speed...I gave it a shove and got it relatched, but I was lucky not to dent the trunk. Then I popped it again and worked my fingers under the edges and pulled hard on one side and then the other...it worked the ice free and it opened. But I only dared use fingers...a stick or some other tool would have damaged the trunk. If I couldn't get it open I was going to try and latch it again before driving.

I sure am glad the trunk didn't pop up during the crash. That would have been a real distraction and no idea what kind of aerodynamic issures that would have raised.
How about a heater/ac mod with a duct run back to the trunk?
